Powder Blue & Scopas Tang Combo

    Hello Gang,

I have a 3.5" Powder Blue Tang and a 3.5" Scopas Tang that I am going to trade in for a Vlamingii Tang and a Sailfin Tang.

Is anyone interested in owning these two fish?

They have lived together for about a year and get along fine. I am going to move them to a friends tank for the time being but if anyone is interested let me know. I will consider a $/coral type trade.

I couldn't find a good picture of the Scopas but the Powder Blue is the guy below.

    Thanks,

    Devon

The powder blue looks beautiful. Think they would do OK in my 29?
Would your LFS give you store credit for them?

My LFS probably would give me credit, I've told him about them. I don't really trust his tanks at the moment though. I am hoping to find someone who is somewhat close because I'm not sure how catching them is going to go.

They say that you should at least have a 90 gallon for the powder blue and I would have to agree. They do a lot of cruising looking for algae.

The people who gave me my 29G had a yellow tang in it and they upgraded to a 55. My understanding is that you need at least a 90G for any kind of tang.
I hear you about the LFS tanks. Good luck with finding a good home for your tangs.

We have a LFS? I wish I could help you out, but I have a couple tangs already. Sure is a good looking tang though.

Do you have any frags you want to sell though?

Re: Powder Blue & Scopas Tang Combo

Well I could only get the Scopas out of the tank before the Vlamingii tang arrived. The Powder Blue has not been a very nice fish over the past two days . I wonder if I could "jig" him out with a salmon hook...???

Anyway, only time will tell if they are going to get along.

As far as corals go, I've never fragged any stonies. I'm not sure that I am at the point of fragging. I would like to get things a bit more established. I do have quite a few mushrooms and a few Kenya trees popping up around the tank though. Oh and a few plain digitatas and blue candy cane coral frags.

I just picked up a peach and pink birds nest, a hodag, green pavona, purple porites and a green acro of some sort. I hope they do well. Pictures soon to follow.

I like the birdsnest!!!!! Take care of that puppy, you know there may be a frag trade in the future.

Re: Powder Blue & Scopas Tang Combo

Yeah I would have to say that I like the birdsnest the best so far. I guess I want to see what lives the best in my tank and go from there. I hope to someday soon I will be able to do some fragging.

How long does it generally take before a frag gets large enough to frag? I imagine that the time greatly varies from one tank to another but I was thinking 6 months? Thoughts

My friend just brought me over a green open brain from Coral Reef. It appears a lady from Kalispell did some heavy shopping before my friend showed up. Is that person apart of the Northwest Montana Reef Club? If so, it sounds like that would be a pretty cool tank to check out!

Here's a crappy cell phone picture of the brain:

Wow! The brain looks really cool even in the crappy photo!

Hmmm.....I wonder who the gal from Kalispell could be.... let me guess....

No, she is not a member but I have seen her tank. I'm sure she would let us come see her tank some time.

Devon, are you using a tripod for your photos?

The brain photo is taken with my phone, hence the crappy photo. Most are taken without a tripod. Why?

Cynthia, she is a member, she just hasn't been to any meetings yet, at least she, (Lisa) is on the e-mail list. I am gonna try to get down to Kalispell today to see her tank, and maybe take some pics if she will let me.
