1200 gph is fine for your fuge. i have about 3 time that much going thru mine.
what are you planning for between the two tanks?
as i said before, you could use an overflow box on the return.
    looking good so far.
I will probably take out the 3/4" fitting that feeds the black feed line and put a 1" fitting in, then remove the 3/4" to 1" fitting. What do you mean by head pressure? Are you talking about the weight on the bulk head? There is about a 2-3" drop in grade for the flow back into the sump. I am kind of limited on what I can do there. There is a window ledge behind the tank that doesn't allow me to angle the return directly unless I wanted to pull the tank out an extra 2" (which I don't). I plan on putting an oak cover up to hide the hideous 2" return and black pipe. Have to make Shelby happy .

That is my bud Eddie (Those lights used to be on my tank) I bet if he still has those lights, he'll sell them for less than $350...

    Re: 90 gallon refugium

head pressure is the pressure created by gravity and resistance that causes a pump to pump less voulme per hour. you know that the same pump produces less volume if you raise the out put line higher. this is in regard to the pump that will fill the Fuge and has nothing to do with the return line. all that needs is 1/8" drop per foot to work.

Up and running, not much noise either. I under estimated the cloud of dusty water though. It looks like I added a full bottle of purple up.

Good deal man, good deal. I think this has been asked before, but are you gonna make use of the natural light?

looks good. i like the way you put the sand in there are you going to have any livestock in the fuge? Charlie had a shrimp gobie pair in his and i always thought that was cool.

I definitely think the natural light will help my case or I would have painted the back of the tank black. I'm planning on running my lights at night to help steady the pH.

I have been pondering all kinds of small or different creatures to put in the fuge. A shrimp gobie pair would be cool. I also kind of like pipe fish. At the moment I have a cuc and some chaeto in there.

Are there any other species only type of creatures that I could put in there? I have always wanted a pair of Harlequin shrimp but I hate to have to feed them starfish...

Try not to overdue it on the chaeto!!!!

Seriously, it is neat that you are taking pics thru all this. You can look back in 3 months when that ball of chaeto is growing out the top and say, WOW!!!
Don't forget that until the chaeto really starts taking up, I wouldn't harvest to much.

How long would you say it took for your fuge to start impacting your system? I'm wondering how long it takes for the nitrate eating bacteria to start up? I'm hoping that sml bunch of Chaeto will t take off, that's all I had in my main tank.

Do you think I should get some more chaeto or just wait?
