    Re: 90 gallon refugium

i'm worry a little about the cucumber, what is it going to eat? the sand is all new isn't it?
the shrimp would be cool and a choc chip star is cheap and not reef safe so what else would you do with them except feed them to a shrimp?????
i think i need to take out my macro and get some chaeto. maybe that would help with some of the yellow in my water? it's not bad but it can always be better

the project is looking great, i think you'll be really glad you did it!!!

    Re: 90 gallon refugium

I could put the cuc back in the other tank, I just thought he would have a good time playing in the sand.

I can't wait for all the bugs to be running around on the glass.

I still need to figure out the light situation. There is a 216 watt T5 light setup on Ebay for $124. I was thinking about doing the DIY setup but I am having a hard time finding a nice looking shell to put it in. What do you guys think about a cheap setup like this one? Charlie?

that's where i dump all my dry chemicals so that it gets mixed up before it goes to the return pump. i've done that before and it just gets totally calcified.
i was thinking using those carbon pads but i'm not sure how well they would work vs the cost.....

Hey Devon, you are only growing weeds with it, look at what I am using on the 80.

How 'bout your fuge? There has to be somewhere you can stick a bag of carbon!!!!!!
Do you mix your additions with RO, or do you just dump the dry chemical?

Couldn't you find some ro to mix that with. That has to be fairly hard on the pumps!!!!!!

    Re: 90 gallon refugium

then i'd have to get up earlier and spend more time..... it's easier to just throw it into the sump and let the flow do the mixing.... although you're right it would be easier on the equipment if i pre-mixed it.....

    Re: 90 gallon refugium

Starting to see the diatoms pick up on the sand. I think I might order a couple clumps of Chaeto. Does anyone know if someone locally is growing this weed?

I've been switching pads back and forth from my sump to the fuge to speed up the pod population. I think I have just about as much fun watching all the micro life than I do watching the fish & corals.

Here are a few updated pictures:

That sounds like a pretty good deal. Do you know this guy and trust him and his tanks? I just work about introducing some nuisance creature like flatworms.
