another newbie in Kalispell

Hi everyone -

I've had a reef tank for just over a couple of years now, and thought it was high time I joined a forum of like-minded people who love their hobby as much as I do. My husband and my friends all get sick of listening to me drone on about whatever new coral, fish, etc., I get and I swear their eyes glaze over. I have to say that my husband has been a real trooper about the whole thing, as he will even make trips to Spokane with me to get coral.

Anyway. . . . I found out about the club from the new fish store south of town, but didn't make it to their open house where I expect a fair number of club members turned out. It sounds like I just missed being able to attend the big summer meeting, too.

Just a little background: I've got a 36g bowfront with a Flame Angel, a clownfish and a Royal Gramma, and a mix of hard and soft corals that are all doing well right now. I filled out my bio if you want to know more. It was a rough start in the beginning with absolutely no knowledge at all, just a desire to learn but limited resources locally and no one to ask questions of. So, I bought a number of books, researched a lot on the internet, bought a ton of stuff by trial and error online, and had just about every possible disaster happen along the way. But, I'm still with it, and now several thousand dollars later (seems like it anyway ), have a great tank that gives me much pleasure.

Welcome Kim, glad to see you pop up on here. It's Nick (we've had a couple of informal exchanges about coral and what). There has been a couple of "newbies" named Kim but I knew it was you from the East side of town, after reading your list of fish ;). Glad your tank is doing well. I brought the 75 G. tank (from you) home and put a different (cichlid) tank in my wife's classroom. I'll have to update you. Lots of nice people here with good help.

Kim, according to Charlie on Monday when I was at his place, there is a meeting on August 29th (Saturday) at his place, out in Columbia Falls. His friend Kevin from Spokane will be reviewing/discussing fragging. Am I right, Charlie?

Yep, the meeting is the 29th at my house, and yes, Kevin will be coming over to help empty my fridge of a beer surplus................oh yeah, and he will be talking fragging corals, it should be a very good time. He has been over the last couple of years, and if you ask the folks that showed up at those 2 meeting, a good time was had by all.
Have you been to his store in Spokane?

Nope, never been there. I've been to The Coral Reef on East Sprague a few times, though. I'll have to check out Aquatic Dreams next time I'm there.

Will do - thanks for the info. I've been in to the new store in town quite a few times as well wanting to buy stuff, and there doesn't seem to be much happening. Most of the saltwater tanks still weren't set up, and there were very few marine fish.
