    t-5 tek light

Since my tank started leaking and I had to replace it I had to order some new lights for the new tank. So I have a 48 inch 6 lamp t-5 tek light that needs a new home. I paid 470$ just 4 months ago for this unit. The bulbs still have a good 7-8 months left on them. If any one is looking to pickup a t-5 light this unit is awesome it just isn't enough light for my new 30inch deep tank. If anyone is interested let me know it should be available by next week.

Here is some more information on the unit.

    Re: t-5 tek light

I found someone selling 2 250w PFO pendants for 100$ and then I picked up 2 250w icecap ballasts and 2 new bulbs. It should work out pretty nice!

    Re: t-5 tek light

It is a 150gal. It is 30 inches deep which causes problems with t-5 I would need a 8 bulb VHO t-5 setup If you want to return yr unit I would let this one go for 360ish with bulbs should be good for another 7-8 months on the current bulbs. Would be pretty much like getting the bulbs for free.

    Re: t-5 tek light

Well the good thing about the t-5s is you can grow just about anything and they have awesome coloring also the bulbs they are cheaper and last a lot longer then power compacts. I got the current bulb build from the t-5 specialist on reef central. The downside with t-5s is you don't get the shimmer. As soon as everything shows up and is put together I will post pictures!

With what you have in the tank now, I think it would be a good choice for the present and future.

James, have we given you enuf time to figure out if you are gonna show on Sunday?

    Re: t-5 tek light

I'd like to add some more actinic lighting to my tank. I need a single bulb fixture six feet long. I'm trying to squeeze it in between two Current USA enclosed fixtures. Any thoughts for a 30" deep tank.

I'm only looking to add light for aesthetic appeal. I noticed, Charlie, you have a 6' VHO actinic, right?

    Re: t-5 tek light

Devon you may want to try a retrofit kit 2 bulb 60 inch VHO icecap setup. Or when you switch your MHs you could switch to 20k bulbs. In the long run you will save alot of money if you switch those power compacts out they have a much shorter and are cheaper to replace! http://www.reefgeek.com/lighting/T5_Fluorescent/IceCap/SLR_Retrofit_Kits/60_inch__2x80W_SLR_T5_Very_High-Output_Retrofit_Kit_w!_Bulbs_by_IceCap

Most people put 1 bulb on each side of their MHs.

Edit: I mean check it out the replacement bulb is only 24$! And you only have to replace them once a year. If you run them in VHO mode you might only get like 10 months but still!

    Re: t-5 tek light

Sorry their links are weird. Just check out the icecap retrofit kits on their page. If you get the icecap 660 ballast it will over drive standard bulbs into VHO mode also the icecap reflectors are very high quality. I just wish they made smaller t-5s so I could retrofit the biocube!

    try this one
