Hi all- I've been caring for the tank over the summer, things have been growing both corals & fish:
...why is it always something to do with the water?
I was talking to Charlie tonight, here is the possible Tort I was asking about that is finally growing a bit and pics of both of the Bonsais:

I was doing a little looking back; post #81 has images 9281 and 9283 showing green & pink bird's nest corals, pictures taken 3.09: today the same corals (green is about the size of a cantaloupe). pink one on the square flat rock. I was remembering 16 months of growth, the picture dates show it has been about 17 months for both of them (i was pretty close)!

nice tank kevin! looks real good!
I'm not one to be prone to sudden impulsive actions, but I finally started running carbon in my tank. I bought a BRS reactor, running it with a Maxi-Jet 1200, has been on for 2 days. Guess what...the water is (already) clearer. go figure...!![]()

Brandon- I can't believe how much of the 2-part solution I'm dripping to keep all of the coral happy and growing. I'm also dripping Kalk to keep the pH up in the 7.9 - 8.2 range (the usual daily fluctuation). It's harder to keep the pH up now that the house is closed up and the wood stove is going most of the time...but I'm not freaking out about it like last year! The corals take a while to get used to the new home & then they just take off! Recently the Goniopora that I 'sort of' impulse bought (oops) earlier in the year has been making a revival after several months of slight to no polyp extension...coral sulking. For the last month they are back to filling up & extending to about 2/3 of the size they were when I saw the coral at Reef Missoula, just seems to get better over time, so it's been in the tank for 7 or 8 months now and is doing better (not well yet ...). Hope to see you when you come over here, give a call & you & Jenn sohuld come over & see the sights!

I will do that Kevin!! Cant wait to see it in person. I can only imagine trying to keep levels up at this point.
Charlie, If your lucky and I'm not, Ill try to make it up your way too. Actually would like to make a tour of it!! I don't know if time will allow that....![]()
