They are awesome, I have two of them in my 90.
My friend picked up one of these mods for his maxi-jet. He says the thing is crazy. So if anyone is looking to pickup a new power head on the cheap you may want to check out Maxi-Jet 1200 Powerhead / MP 1200 + Algae Free Sure Flow 1600 Maxi-Jet Upgrade Kit 2100 gph for 34$!

Now dig me out
I attest to their GREATNESS!! Some say that they wear out quickly. I'm running a total of 4 of them. 2 were purchased used, about 3 years ago, and still running strong. A 3rd, also purchased at the same time, is no longer in use, because the rod finally snapped, recently. I would encourage anyone considering them to ALWAYS also purchase the Shur Grip Mag holder. This system turns a 297 GPH power head into a 2200 gph MONSTER!! Don't rely on the suction cups!!
That is good to know. I am thinking about picking up a few in the next few months!
I second the magnetic holder. I havent seen a suction cup work worth a hoot in a tank yet.

This is probably a stupid question, but hec it's saturday and the adult bevs are flowing
The price is powerhead and the mod, and it produces typhoon style flow out a mj1200 to 2100+ gph.
Please let me know if I read this right
Tanks,
Robert
You read it right!!

Gonna 2 for the 55, may not be able to use them both, but it will be fun playing with them, 2 at 2000+ gph each, Wow.
Thanks for the tip

My friend just picked one up he had to put the smaller prop on it because 2100 gph was too much for his tank![]()
Surf's UP
Can't wait till I get them, this is gonna be fun, will proably have to use a wavemaker or timers if I use both.

you thinking too much flow with these guys? 3's are rated at 900 gph correct, to tired to look them up right now
Tanks,
Robert
Well................................let's see. 4200 gph in a 55, do you plan on having anything that is stationary? I know flow is good, but think about this!!!!

I was thinking about using timers for them, have one going left to right then reverse it, 12 hour intervals, would that work?
It would work, and it would save on powerhead usage, but I don't think that is what you want, and have you done any research on turning these things on and off. If I am not mistaken, I think people have had trouble turning these things on and off, but I may be wrong.

will look into it and post results, that is some serious flow, but as you said both at the same time would result in hurricane warnings being posted.
That is why I am saying I think you will get more diversity with the K3's.

I just hate it when you're right all the time, couldn't find anything bad about the start up on timers or the wavemakers, but did read about too much flow on a 54 bow front,
Did some quick math, 2 K3's and the mag 12 in the sump @ a 4 - 5 ft head, which in reality I'd be at 3.5 - 4 ft. I'd be pushing 2800 gph, not counting skimmer, and with the mag 9 2500 not counting skimmer.
