White balancing?

Ok I seem to remember somewhere some time ago reading about most cameras have a white balance to adjust for and I did it once on my Nikon995 but forgot how to do it. I suppose I could read my manual again to find out how to do it But I have a question concerning White balancing. The way I remember doing it is to provide fairly good lighting and put a piece of white paper in front of the camera and set your white balance. My question is does this have to be reset periodically in digital cameras and im guessing it has to do with your lighting levels at the time your taking pics compared to the lighting level you had when you did your white balance adjustment.

Depends on the camera. WHat you are talking about is setting a custom white balance. It should be done under the lights that you are taking pictures under. OR you end up just using the Auto white balance which may or may not work depending on your camera. My 20D does very well on Auto WB, except for under Na lights. (like HS gyms)

Back to your question though, as to if you have to "reset" the WB, I don't think you should, unless you also had to reset the time/date recently, that would indicate it that YES you would need to reset the WB...
