Got a new macro lens

Mike, as I told you before, I got this new macro lens from Canon and today I took it out for the first time and took few images. Let me know what you think,Mike. The lens is EFS 60mm f2.8 from Canon.
Sorry the images are not reef related but I'm away from my tanks right now so I took pictures of whatever I could find at the pool area.

I LIKE!

I would say that lens is a keeper for sure. It is very sharp, and the color looks pretty good so far. I think we need more images to be sure though!

Thanks,Mike!

I am definately keeping this one in my bag, and besides, I don't think I own sharper piece of glass than this one.
I have one more favor to ask you,Mike. Can you email me your actions that you sent me before? I install photoshop here at the condo but I forgot to copy those actions and take them with me here. Takes waay too long to play with all the functions in the post process.

I do have few more images but they are all of my granddaughter mainly( she was the only subject willing to be photographed)

Anyways, here are few more images that I quickly processed.

Few more... as beautiful day as it was when I took first set of images the weather quickly changed for the worse in the afternoon( a typical occurance at the Jersey shore) It is stormy right now and the beach quickly got emptied, thanks to the park rangers( I could see everything from the balcony )
well, see for yourself...

Sure will Gene, let me figure out where I put them....

OH that lens is VERY sharp. I think you will find yourself leaving that lens on, and "zooming with your feet."

I can't wait to see the color and contrast you get when you aim it at your tank!

Got them.Thanks a bunch Mike!

I agree, the lens is very sharp and it's sharp even wide open. The USM is absolutely silent, too. AF travels just a tad in low light but I usually switch to manual anyway in lower light conditions, so no big deal for me.

I can't wait as well to take some shots of the tank( if I can see through the glass by the time I return home... ). It's probably solid pink or purple by now.

What a lovely eye! Whoever that is should be contact lens model.

Thanks, Marc!
This eye belongs to my 4 year old granddaughter pictured in some of the pictures above, and she has 20/20 vision by the way.So, no contact lenses for her.

Mike,
Here's one shot that I took of the anemone tank.Unfortunately I don;t have any corals left to take pictures of, so anemones and fish will have to do.

good morning sunshine!

woke up this morning around 5:30 am and when I walked out on the balcony I found this view...

since I don't have a true wide angle lens I posted three images to depict a view of the ocean from my balcony.

It is indeed very peaceful early in the morning, at about 7:30 the hell breaks loose and the noise from the road under that balcony becomes pretty much unbearable at times. Plus, since all of the windows and that balcony/terace faces east, all of the sun is on it as well. It was in the 100's last week and you wouldn't last on that balcony more than 25-30 minutes. Thank god for air conditioning....

Here's a shot of the sky at night, the moon was about to hide behind the clouds so I took the shot before that happens.Plus a shot of that noisy, 4 lane street that is right under my balcony.

Ooh ooh...I want one!!! That really is a great lens. Gotta add that to the stable. Are you finding problems focusing in low light like some of the reviews said?

Not really a problem but it certainly travels a bit if you shoot on AF mode. I switch to MF whenever light is scarse anyways, so no biggie. It is a macro lens after all and I think it should be treated as such but I love the sharpness of it and use it on most of my pictures now, if focal range permits of course.

I'm now looking for a longer range lens and been eyeing the 70-200 f4L lens from Canon for a while, hopefully I can find one cheaper than $600 most stores want for it soon.

Did I miss something? How do you not have any corals?

You certainly did get a KEEPER Gene, that lens is GREAT! As for you looking at the 70-200 f4L, DON'T DO IT!!!! You will get "L" Fever, it is HIGHLY contagious, and you soon won't settle for anything without that red ring at the front!!!

I now have 3 "L" lenses, the 24-70 2.8L, the 70-200 2.8L and the new 24-105 f4.0L....My old 28-135 lives on my mother in laws camera now, and I can't bring myself to even try anything other then L glass!

Reasons to pay so much more? Wicked fast focusing, even in the dark. So sharp it can POKE your eyes out! And the best part, they hold their value! Heck even 2 year old 24-70's are getting $850+ Not bad for a lens that sold for $1100 NEW!
