You are right Mike, these are actually not very good pictures. I tried saving them in the CS2 over here but this is the best I could do. I can't just take another shot as you anderstand with me being not home...

I will post some better ones once I get back home for good and practice some more. I haven't picked up my camera at all since I left it at home for the whole July.

Thanx! The Z.scopas is not agressive at all in my tank, maybe it is due to the fact that it was later addition or maybe it's just personality of this particular fish.

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

I think this shot is a tad better, Mike.

And this is a picture of my C.solorensis on the look out for anything that moves and small enough to fit in his mouth...

Forgot to add macro shot of the coral that I think came out fairly good.

Is that a Scribbled Rabbitfish - Siganus doliatus aka (two barred rabbitfish)
In your pic? Have you had any trouble out of him ex: eating zoo's or mushrooms?

Hi Jenn,

No, it is a Siganus virgatus and it had been a model sitizen from day one.

Come to think of it, it did sample a patch of zoanthids once but that was it, it never did it again. I provide lots of food for the fella and he is by far the most agressive feeder of all fish that I have in this tank. Bristletoothed tang gives him some crap now and then by it is really none harmfull to both fish.

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

One of these days I am going to get our camera back out for some picture updates. Although nothing has changed (not even much growth) our tank is still pumping water.

Those are better Gene!! I think the highlights are still a little hot, but that is hard to avoid in a FTS!

Your macro shot is neat, maybe a touch to much USM?

Definitely too much USM. Ok, ok, being sarcastic, I have no idea what USM is. I think we need a photography acronym list like we have for reefing acronyms.

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

Actually I just figured it out, if you cut off 2 branches, one for me and one for Mike, the coral will then have just the right amount of USM.

LOL! You are to MUCH!!!!

USM= Unsharp Mask, a photoshop tool. The filter actually sharpens the image, even though the name is "Unsharp" it makes ZERO sense huh?

But I do agree with your second assesment! I think we can both use a chunk of that coral Gene.

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

Actually, I don't use USM anymore. I use smart sharpen instead and in the case of this particular shot I use very little of it.
As far as branches being cut and all that.., I don't mutilate my corals anymore..

Seriously, though, you need to see this coral in person. It has some incredible red growing margins whereas all others I have have them blue in color.

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

Well, I am home finally and decided to take some top down shots yesterday.

These didn;t come out all that great but good enough for web viewing, I think.

I'll start with the A.nana as it is the most colorful coral I have.

Not sure what species this Acropora belongs to but it too started to color up, in fact it is turning pale blue.

Right next to that coral is this lime green acropora that has intence green polyps. It had minor set back while I was gone ( another coral fell on it and my daughter thought nothing of it... ) but it is not dead and outer branches are coloring up nicely, now that I did water change and redieled my calcium reactor.

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

And some more top down shots

My A.florida is not very fast grower but has very nice color which I fail to describe. It looks lavender(almost) if you look through the glass but looks more brown with yellow tips if looked upon from the top.

This A.humilis used to have just tips bluw but now it is turning blue all over and is getting completely surrounded by other colonies. I would relocate it but it had encrusted other rocks and I'm afraid I could do more bad than good by trying to move it. Oh, the curse of the small tanks...

This next coral, A.sarmentosa, was pink in color when I recieved it. Then, when I had the bad set of bulbs incident, it turn completely brown and is staying that way. Tips are getting a bit reddish but that is all.

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

And if you not bared yet.., here's some more.

A.yongei that is brown with some purple on the growing margins.

Not sure what species this coral is but I like it nonetheless.

Lovely green stag.

And lastly A.formosa that was blue at one point but is now more purple than anything else. Oh, well...

Hope you enjoyed this.

PS. Almost forgot to add picture of this little crab that lives in one of my colonies.

Thanx Mike! Yes, that mille is really nice albeit a bit on the slow side grower. My other millies I used to have grew like wild fire but not this one. It's OK, though, gives me more time to enjoy it before I have to start chopping it.

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

Yeah, I am pretty bored Gene, I just can't stand it when folks take pictures of their REALLY BORING corals!!!

That A. florida is a neat looking piece, as is the sarmentosa. Gene, I would just give them the time, and I know it has been awhile already, but maybe they will color up again. Is there a chance you could frag that sarmentosa, and try putting a piece elsewhere to see if it changes?
