Yeah, things are changing and it looks like I'll be staying home instead of the condo this winter. My wife and I both happy about that. My daughter decided to stay home and her fiancee decided to take a hike... Thank god! I love the Lumenarcs but I'm more impressed with the Megachrome bulbs than anything else. Too bad they are so expensive. ![]()

I wasn't even gonna ask about any of that ![]() ![]() . Hope things work out for everybody. I really think it may be the combination of the bulbs and the quality of the reflector Gene, you really have some good stuff going on in there. I just bet you have a full tank shot that you would let loose of!!! ![]() |

![]() I will see about getting a better shot of the whole tank. Maybe tonight when there is no lights from the window and I can control the lighting myself. Those blinds I have are not very good at blocking lights, plus, I need to block light from the Lumenarcs. Maybe some piece of plywood or some other material.

Charlie,
That monti is out of control in my tank. If unchecked it will encrust anything it comes in contact with, including the acroporids. I have some pieces that my rabbitfish manages to knock off grow on the sand, they are not that bright purple because of the lack of light but they still grow like crazy. I hope it will grow for you nicely.

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think
Kind of sounds like I should give it it's own little area. The plan right now for the 300 is to redo it, and I would like to have nothing but plating corals and tables. I think I can arrange enuf flow for an arrangement like that.
![]() ![]() I haven't yet decided whether it will be a bare bottom tank or not, but with the myriad of options that I have available, I think I might go BB, and make the other half happy with a sand bed in the other tank.OOPS, kind of let the cat out of the bag, didn't I. |

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think
In the meantime.., I want to share couple of images of my fishies...
The peace maker of the tank, Z.scopas. ![]() And my never resting fish.., C.solorensis. He's unbelievable hunter and is quite tireless at that. Here's looking for you my beautiful pods... ![]() And of course, this tale wouldn't be complete without a picture of the feeding hog, the rabbitfish from hell named Nemesis... ![]() And here he's in more docile mood while simply observing his reef and looking aout for the the real nemesis in the name of bristletooth tang, C.striatus. ![]() I should also mention, with deepest repects, my sole clownfish A.perideraion. ![]() She's got to be the most frustrated anemonefish.., I can imagine all those anemonefishes who;s host had been taken away from them in the wild... She used to have a beautiful, almost fully grown anemone H.crispa. However, I had to give it away because it simply outgrew my aquarium.I urge everyone to consider this and don't just go out and by a host anemone if it's isn't tank raised. Just a personal peave, you understand.

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think
Here's also some random shots I took the other day, I sincerely hope you enjoy them.
I thought I had lost this elkhorn monti when things went bad but it had risen from the ashes and is now comanding some space of it;s own. All of a sudden it decided to show up one day under the M.digitata colony. ![]() This Zoanthid colony started out as six polyps on a rock. I liked it;s flame orange colors and intend on keeping it. Mind you, I was nover a big fan of Zoanthids. ![]() Also, I need to mention incredible resurecting powers of the infamous Orange Crush Acantastrea. It had virtually disappeared only to reappear few month later and is growing quite nicely, thank you! ![]() And finally some of the randon shots that don't really need any foreword in my opinion. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I guess this is it, I finally exhausted myself.... ![]()

Thanx Gene, life wouldn't be the same without one of your full tank shots!!!! The fish in this post that I quoted actually looks like it had just finished a Pepsi in 3 gulps, if you know what I mean. I think the perfect caption for this would be, "excuse me". ![]() ![]() ![]() Great pics as always!!! |

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think
Some new updates for those who care.
In my never ending quest to fiddle with the tank I re-did right side of the tank, somewhat. I had some green monti digitata growing on the sand that grew into a colony and I finally got rid of it. If you remember I also had rather large colony of Pocillopora growing on the Maxi-jet that stoped working because of it.., it is now gone as well along with the frozen powerhead. Here's a full tank shot so you can see what I am talking about. ![]() The large Euphyllia ancora colony was also split in half and given away to a friend of mine. I still have plenty of it left to fill the spot. Here's another shot from a different angle. ![]() PS> In those shots the background is removed and is now replaced with the black color background.

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think
Some other shots I had taken.
I had bought this small colony of Blastomussa about a year ago and it was basically dead on the rockwork. I removed it and put it on the sand bed roughly 6-7 month ago and finally discovered that it completely recovered and regrew all the polyps and growing new ones when I removed that green digitata. It was hidden behind it all this time, virtually with very little light. ![]() And a closer look... ![]() I also discovered some Vermetids making home on a side of the colony and one adjacent rock. ![]()

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think
I also would like to share some random images I took and had time to process them, finally.
![]() ![]() Shot of the left side that is next on the list to be "tinkered" with... ![]() You may ask why tinker with it.., well for one I cannot take a decent shot of my Porcellain crab because he lives under the large purple cap and I plan on removing half of it, at least. Here's the shots I have to live with so far... ![]() ![]() I very much would love to take a full shot of the entire crab if you know what I mean... And finally couple of actinic shots of my zoanthids for you. ![]() ![]()

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think
Looking very good Gene! I have a similar blasto colony that is finally starting to come around too.... Maybe it is something in the air!
Those Zoa's are very colorful too, I may break down a buy a couple of them someday. |

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think
My oh my, haven't we been busy!!
![]() ![]() The "new look" is nice!!!! I can't wait to see how much of the Purple monti you leave. Considering it's growth rate, you could probably make lots of room, and still enjoy watching it grow all over again. Are you gonna do any trimming on the acros above it??? Quote:
Isn't it neat to find something that you had basically forgot about?? |

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think
Thanks guys!
![]() Charlie, I will definately end up trimming all of those acros on the left side. I can;t do anything with that cap until I do something with the acros. Purple A.formosa is already outgrew that spot so I may have to cut off at least half of it. I hate to do it but it will be encrusting overflow soon if I don't do anything ,and it kills pretty much anything it touches for some reason. I had this species before but never this dominant. Mike, I never really liked zoas all that much before but I;m starting to appreciate them more and more. For some reason they like my tank anf grow like a wild fire. ![]()
