Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

I don't know if you guys remember me posting pictures of one ugly, blue eyed crab that I removed from an acropora colony not that long ago. Anyway, I put the little bugger in the fuge to see if it survives there. Well, wouldn't you know it, I just removed it again from a different colony. The colony started to look quite bad and I decided to look what's up with that...
I mean it turn from solid purple to brown with just few branches having purple tips.
This time I threw it in the overflow of my anemone tank... lets see if it can make it back this time.

Good Lord, that is one determined crab. You gave him a second chance this time, is he gonna go for a spin the next time.

No, I won't purposely kill the bugger. It resides in the overflow of my anemone tank now. Some food always gets in there and it should be protected from any predators.

On a lighter side of things, I did replace my megachromes this month, last week to be exact. They lasted a year without major issues I must add.

Things looking OK for the most part except I noticed some damage on the stag( I sent you a frag of it). On one branch it looks like something/someone took a chunk of the branch tip right off.

And in this picture you can clearly see radial corallites sheared off. I'm thinking that it could be one of my fishes but haven't seen any of them ever go after acroporas. Maybe it was that little crab's job but I doubt it could inflict such damage.

And here are some other shots I took for the update. Enjoy!

I have no idea what this coral is but I like it a lot.

Shot of the colony from the top.

This little frag is starting to take off, also unsure of the species but color is really nice.

And few more.

This shot is for Mike, I know he likes this mille.

I also like this green acro with some orange tipped corallites.

And a close up of my crocea clam.

If he did that, I don't I would have been as nice to him as you were. That is a sizeable chunk that is gone!!!

Wow Gene, that crab is crazy! I remember that little creep, I also remember something about a porcelain bowl....

I DO like that Milli, it is CRAZY! Those are GREAT shots, I can't wait to do some experimentation this week myself.

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

Thanks guys!

Mike, I never flashed that guy, he was in the fuge residing and plucking my feather dusters in there, I suppose. They started to dwindle to almost nothing, and what should have made me suspicious is the fact that they seem to rebound dramatically in their population. I have entire fuge covered in them, so I removed most of the chaeto from there and put few more rubble pieces of rock in there.
I also got my skimmer working the way it should, finally...

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

Well, here is somewhat closer look at the "bite" on the acropora.

And I also forgot to add a full tank shot for the update. Things are beginning to overgrow again.
I guess there is no happy medium, you either complain about slow growth or you complain about too much growth...
