Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

Thanks guys!

I like the wrasse as well but the Cherubfish is really nice, too. You have to see it in person to really apreciate it's subtle colorations and very mellow personality.
BTW, I couldn't help myself, I missed that jumper angelfish too much and so I got another juvenile G.lamarki.

My solarensis has not lost any color in the year he has been in the tank. Mine had pretty strong terminal male coloration, though, when he arrived.

That's good to know, Doug. Conversly, I inquired about the female in Marine Center in Dallas but haven't heard from them yet. I think I'll give them a call instead of email, maybe it will work better.

Here's couple more shots I took the other day, hope ya'll enjoy them.

Gene, those are great as always. 60mm Macro by chance?

I really like that PURPLE or maybe I should say VIOLET tipped piece, it is astounding!

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

Thanks Mike!

That purple tipped piece is a A.nana that I always had and when my colony died I got a frag back. It is growing very nicely and it is indeed a purple tipped coral.
I have a shot of it from the top, hope it helps with the color identification, although it looks more blue under 10K bulbs(this shot was taken with the 10k bulbs on some time ago).

PS> It was indeed my 60mm macro lens and 28-75 from Tamron. I love that lens outside but it is most of the time in the bag because of that 60mm lens.

Very nice Gene, I also like the nana!!! That was one of my favorite corals. They are also really photogenic. Here is a pic of the one I had. I found that they looked really different when taking pics underneath the actinic only too.

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

Thanks Charlie!

I agree, this coral is very photogenic.

PS. I wish my Porcelain crab cooperated more. Took this shot of him under the Montipora colony, it wouldn't be all that bad but I had to take this shot at an angle to the glass, so quality is lost by alot.

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

Got some new shots of the fish feeding on a piece of algae that I wedged between two halves of cleaning magnet.

I also included shot of my yellow tang and clark's anemonefish from my anemone tank.

Thanx Rocky!!

It went through some serious rough times last year and a half, and that's putting it mildly. It is recovering nicely, though.

PS. I always loved your avatar...

That is great Gene. I really like the 4th attachment, it has a 3D feel to it. I also really like those bulbs, do you use any actinic with them?

Thanks Mike!

Yeah, I really like this bulbs as well. In fact I think they are probably the best I've ever used, personally.

I do use actinics with them, VHO's URI actinics 110w (46.5") two bulbs. I can;t wait to finish installing Lumenarcs and trying them in those reflectors.

Here's a shot I took today and I fail to see any blue cast at 14.5K.

Having said that, when shooting at a closer range you can see some of the blue in the shodows. Here's an example...

I'm not sure if it is the bulbs or the user error in this case but I can clearly see some blue casting at the tail section of the fish and beyond. Do you know what could be causing this, Mike?

The only thing I can think of Gene is white balance. Are you using AWB or a custom WB setting?

Mike,

Ever since I installed this bulbs I been using AWB with great results. The colors seem true and if I take a shot from couple of feet away there is no blue at all in the picture. I think maybe I need to change my VHO's as they are at least a year old.

Don't sweat it Gene, my VHO actinic is going on 2 years old. I run a single 46.5" bulb just for color, with 10K XM's.

Can you take a couple pictures of your tank without the VHO's on for me? I'd like to see the color without them.

Mike,

I will take some tomorrow and post them for you. I was real busy this past couple of days...my middle granddaughter turn 5 today so it was really a BIG day, if you can imagine.
In the interim, how about couple of actinic shots? She woke me up before 5am today asking if it is her birthday already.., so I had some time to take a few shots while tank was lit by VHO's alone.

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

And couple of shots I took the other day. First, I pic of some hitch hiker snail that I think is a small limpet. I haven;t noticed any damage to the small colony where I found it on so it lives for now.

And couple more of the plating monties.
