Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

Well, there is a good chance that my LFS may be buying my anemone tank. I haven't worked out the particulars yet with the owner, although he did expressed an interest in it.
On a side note, after a water change today, and after I briefly took my clams out of the tank (maybe couple of minutes max) my T.crocea begun spawning that lasted roughly 30 minutes. During that time the tank became a bit cloudy but it was clearing as fast as the clam was spewing it the spawn.

Here's some images from the event.

And, not to break up the tradition...here's the full tank shot for the month of July.

And here's my latest addition to the tank.

And it's leading edge...

Good news about the anemone tank Gene, you think you are going to miss that mean old clown fish if you do sell it?
That is pretty interesting about the clams, were you feeding them outside the tank?
OK, what is the new addition

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

Not sure, Charlie. It could be efflo or soly, who knows for sure?

As far as anemone tank goes, it would be great if they bought it from me. I would even take a new tank in exchange with the steel stand. I need to think about it for a while if I want to continue with this hobby or just give it up.

That mean old clownfish would be hard to part with but I'm willing to take a chance... My 10 years old yellow tang is another matter, though. If I would to set up a 180g tank, or so, I could possibly put it together with the scopas tang from my 75g. The rabbitfish and bristletooth would go for adaption if anyone would be willing to take them. Although, in the 180g tank I think that bristletoothed tang would have enough room to not bother with the zebrasomas.
If I decide to go that route I will start a new thread with the build as I would be building some panels to cover the steel stand and light bridge and all that stuff. Plus, I think I have a closet and a crawl space where I could put a large sump, chiller and all the other noisy things. My wife wants to convert my daughter's room into a fitness room , but I digress... The most important thing is that she said that she would like to have tank in this type of room, if it is silent enough.

We shall see what happens next...

Gene, I cannot, and I repeat, cannot imagine you without a tank!!!!!!!
I think a tank would be a great addition to a fitness room, just make sure there is a large leather recliner in there also for resting after the fitness. It could probably use a cup holder too.

Well, I have a recliner already lined up, even if the tank idea falls through...
She's going to exercise and I will be watching that she is doing things right...

Maybe I should sell tickets for the event after she hears that idea...

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

PS. Have you noticed my Elegance in the full tank shot?
It;s not much to look at in terms of color but I know that it's healthy because it was in the store for a long time before I got it.

No I didn't.

You must have gotten another, huh?

If you are going to comment on making sure your wife is doing her fitness routine correctly, you had better buy a flak jacket and a helmet. I tried that once with Lorie, and ended up back down here looking thru reef forums.

Yeah, I got one from the store where both of the Elegance corals were. The only difference I saw that the first one had really bright green color of the polyp and a tad shorter tentacles, where my current one has plain brown polyp with plain brown tentacles with slightly different colored tips. Like I said before, not extremely bright in color coral but looks very healthy.

As far as my wife throwing me out of the room....I'd be ecstatic to leave and have a beer.

PS. Here's a better look of this coral.

You guys are too funny!
I agree with Charlie, you'll be in big trouble if you have any comments
Us women do EVERYTHING right and we don't need feedback from the peanut gallery!
You should get her a Wii fit, those things are a blast, my daughter bought one about a month ago and I've been using it too, you're exercising and it's actually fun... there's yoga, strength training and aerobics

Gene, Your coral shots are amazing! I can't wait 'til I get my SPS corals to look that good! I started Zeovit about 6 weeks ago and I'm just beginning to see coloring up and PE! woo hoo!

I'll be out of commission for about a week or two, I have to go for some stupid surgery tomorrow so I'll talk to you guys when I'm up and around again!
Buh-bye...

Gene, as long as you can keep this one healthy and in the living world, we won't care what color it is, as long as you take pics of it for us to enjoy.

Hell, if we could watch the tentacles sway in the current, that's beautiful enough, isn't it?

Hi Louise,

I hope it isn't anything serious? We'll be waiting for you right here and cheering for you to get better real fast.

Post some shots of your corals (meaning sps) as soon as you are able to document the progress.

Aerobics, yoga...you got to be kidding me. You want me to train my wife so she can kick my proverbial behind? On, no! Plain bowflex machine and a tradmill will do for the both of us.

Charlie, that is it! This tank was missing something swaying in the current and now it has it. I'll do my best to keep it alive and growing.

I think that is why I always tend to have at least one hammer or torch, or both, in my tank. It seems that those are the corals that visitors always tend to see first, then they look at the rest.

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

Hey guys,
I'm back! I'm still messed up but it's better than being at the hospital , Jeez, now I know why hospital food has such a horrible reputation

In case you guys are wondering, I had a fibroma the size of a grapefruit on/in my uterus, and it all had to go. So now it's all gone, I'm home but not supposed to get back to my normal routine for 6-8 weeks!

My daughter's doing my water change today and I'm stuporvising
She did a good job watching my tank too so I'm happy with that.

k, that's about it for me, might come back a little later...

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

Glad to have you back, Louise, and congrats on getting rid of something that does not belong in your body.
It is nice to have someone close to you to look after your tanks. I know it means a lot to me.

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

Well, I figured I would post a picture of the tank for this month as it may be the last of it. As you can see it suffered some serious losses but is sable for now.

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

On the good side Gene, you could call it a good thinning, and just keep on goin. Things don't really look all that bad aside from the fact that it isn't as full looking.
I think you are pretty lucky to have come thru that and still be looking that good.
