Charlie, I used to have A.loripes and it looked nothing like this colony. Not to derail this thread, but here's a shot of the colony from the top. Color is off in this shot, the true color is peach but shows up brown in the pictures...
If you take a closer look, there is no true radial corallites at all, only incipient axials and it reminds me most of all of A.granulosa. But how can I be sure? And what do I know of ID's anyways? Speaking of A.loripes, I thought defining characteristics of this species was lack of radial corallites on one side of the branches.

Mike, I'll PM you my addy in a second. I hope you feel better my friend...

Charlie, I found a shot of the A.loripes colony that I used to have... Note the difference.

Cheers James,

You still need to resize them...Did you mean to ask how we insert images into a post ? If so, you need to host them somewhere on the internet, or in our gallery, and then use [img] [/img] tags to surround url of the image. I think Mike made a sticky thread about that in this forum...

Re: Close up's...

Gene, you got me on the ID???? You ought to shoot Kevin a PM and maybe he'll chip in when he gets home tonite.
The only reason I said Loripes, was I thought Kevin gave me a small frag that looked alot like that. Heck I don't know, it's an acro.

Re: Close up's...

Thanks, Gene! Thanks, Charlie! The Zoa's are both from the local frag fest last week, but that sponge was a hitchhiker that has really started to look good!

Re: Close up's...

Here's few more close ups for you.
First, say hello to my buddy S.alatus, he's quite adept at grazing diatoms even from the glass... Just check out his teeth (radula)...

And if you never seen how their modified foot works, here's your chance.
It's actually pretty neat to watch this snail prop itself against a front glass and shave algae off of sea grass and glass.

I also noticed few things that I couldn't identify as yet. Maybe some of you are familiar with this translucent tentacle-like creatures. It does not extend very far but far enough to see that it is moving/extenting and retracting. It lives in the sand/ on the sand, only where it is in a shaded place and water sand interface. It;s actually pretty dark under my large Euphyllia coral and sea grass jungle, makes difficult for taking remotely usefull images for identification. But I digress...

I hope you can make out a copepod as well in that image, if not, here's a closer look at the same individual.

Hopefully greenbean will visit this thread and help me identify this things.

Re: Close up's...

I can't tell what the tentacle is from the pic. If you could snag one and get a pic against a darker background to give a bit of contrast I might have a better idea.

The second one is an isopod, I think a serolid. They're harmless scavengers.

Re: Close up's...

Thanks for looking at those things, greenbean36191.

I'm not sure how I can snag one of this tentacles if I can't see it with unaided eye. I can see them pretty good through a macro lens or 5x magnifying glass but that is it.
Any advice on how I can get this thing?
Anyway, I will try to enlist some help and if I succeed I'll post more images of it.

Re: Close up's...

I can't really offer any good tips except for maybe scooping up a bit of sand in the area you've seen one and going through it with a magnifying glass to see if you can find it.

Re: Close up's...

I went looking for it today but couldn't find anything...I did a water change and scrape the glass alot so maybe I disturbed it enough for it go into hiding. I'll try your advice and scoop some sand with it together. Now I'm really curious...

Here's shot of the incurent syphon of my T.squamosa.

And here's a shot of some Zoanthids, I'm not much on the zoanthids and don't know any fancy names for them othet than this one appear to have orange skirts.
