Re: Close up's...

I recieved my close up filter 250D and took couple of shots with it...all in all I like it but it will require some practice as DOF shrunk to nothing. Regular macro lens is much more forgiving, in my opinion.
Here's couple of samples after I work on it for a while in PS, they were lacking sharpness and needed some exposure correcting.

PS. The lens was 85mm as it is the only one that has 58mm filter size.

Re: Close up's...

Well, some more close ups but this time more conventional. Plain old macro lens.

Those are quite nice Gene! Where did you find the 250D, I thought Canon discontinued that one?

Mike, I got it from B&H and I think there are 52 and 58mm sizes available. It is quite useless on my 85mm but not totally useless... I think I just need some practice.

Anyways, here's the linky to the filters.

James,

All of the pictures taken with the 60mm and posted here are without any diopters added in front of the lens. I only tried it on my 85mm portrait lens.

Yes, they are all taken with the 60mm macro lens. You must remember, James, that particular lens is an EF-S mount and will only fit Rebel series, 20D and 30D. If you decide to upgrade later for full frame body then you will either have to sell it or keep your Rebel xt body as well to be able to continue using this lens.

PS. Images in post number 41 were taken with the 85mm f1.8 lens and that 250D diopter.

Re: Close up's...

I just finished processing some more images and will post some later, some were taken with that 60mm macro lens and some with my el cheapo Vivitar 100mm lens. It is 1:3.5 magnification but was sold with the 1:1 diopter and such was considered a macro lens with that diopter on. I think I paid like 140 bucks for it.
Here's a couple of teasers for you, James.

She certainly does. Never bit me yet, though, unlike my A.clarkii from my anemone tank. That one is down right nasty...

If she bit me before he asks... On many occasions!
Just picture a dog that latches on to your leg and shakes it;s head trying to knock you over. Except that she shakes entire body trying to rip out a chunk of your flesh... She;s about six inches righ now and has plenty of muscle power to do it, too.
