Re: Close up's...
Put it all on paper and don't be a stranger. I personally think the planning stage is 3/4 of the fun. Gives you a whole bunch to think about.

Re: Close up's...
I took out my 105mm Sigma today in hopes to be able to take closer macro shots. I was really disappointed with the noise levels at ISO 200. For some strange reasons it was the most abvious in RAW format, jpeg files didn't have that same problem with the noise.
I wonder why is that, Mike? Anyways, on to some images... ![]() This shots here was all taken in RAW format and then converted to TIFF and then resized and saved as jpeg's. A.granulosa... ![]() S.hystrix... ![]() Don;t know what this one is but I do know it is acropora somethings... ![]() ![]()

Re: Close up's...
Noise at ISO 200? That is strange.... Why the long workflow Gene? From RAW to .Tiff to .jpeg, for posting here? I would go straight to .jpeg from RAW for posting to the internet, if you are making prints, then I can see using .tiff, especially if you are going to open/close/open/close/open.... to do editing over time. .Jpeg is definately not the best choice for frequent editing, but it works great for web posting.
What RAW converter are you using? |

It's not really all that long. I got the update for the raw converter for CS2 and it really works well. You get the option for saving multiple files and so I chose Tiff because there is no loss in quality and I then resized and save in jpeg. Not long at all, just one more click to open the file... Besides, I want to save printable files just in case I do want to print some of them. ![]() PS. Charlie, Thnx my friend! ![]()

Here's some shots I took in jpeg format.
![]() ![]() ![]() It's funny, if you look closer it looks like this coral is pushing out some eggs via polyps. Absurd because of the age of the coral but who klnows... I'll be watching this coral tonight if anything happens. ![]()
