Pictures to Prints?

So, I want to take some of my pictures and turn them into prints that can be framed, complete with a fat border and everything... are there websites/companies that can do this? Like, send them a file and they send me the print in the mail?
Thanks...

Re: Pictures to Prints?

If you go to your local camera shop they should be able to print it on the Photo quality paper, then take that to your local frame shop and tell them what you want.

Re: Pictures to Prints?

Sure there are! Mpix.com Online Digital Imaging Service - Order digital photo prints online from professional imaging lab is a good one. You can also get prints from www.ezprints.com there has to be 50-60 different places.

Local camera shops can do it also, so can Sams Club, Walmart etc... Costco has some really high end photo equipment too, it depends on what size you want. Most can do 10x13's at the biggest....

Re: Pictures to Prints?

Don't the images have to be 300dpi at least to look good printed?

Re: Pictures to Prints?

Yes, but that is a simple conversion. Even my 1D takes pictures that are presented on screen as 72dpi, but the size of the image is like 24x36" or something....

In Photoshop if you change the 72 to 300, the resulting image comes down in dimension to something like 7x11, but all the data is still there.

Re: Pictures to Prints?

So you can open up a picture that was taken in 72dpi and covert it to 300dpi without any loss of quality? I know if you take a 72dpi image and place it in an image that is 300dpi, the 72dpi image is very poor quality.

Re: Pictures to Prints?

Yup sure can. The key is allowing the physical dimensions to reduce at the greater DPI. The information is displayed on your screen as 72 DPI because that is all most monitors can resolve.

Open one of your pictures, and look at the image size, then change the DPI to 300, the physical dimensions should get much smaller. If they don't then you need to uncheck the box that says "resample image".
