Some 300dpi Pictures

Mike or Gene,

Either of you have any 300dpi reef images I can use? I need some for some print ads...let me know if you have anything that I can use!

Re: Some 300dpi Pictures

I need a couple of really good, close coral pics and a good close pic of a fish or two.

Re: Some 300dpi Pictures

Hmm, I never save them for printing, usually, but I do have some RAW shots left on the disk. I'll browse and see if I can convert them to TIFF and save in that resolution you asked for. Not sure what I have though but I'm thinking Mike got you covered pretty good...

Re: Some 300dpi Pictures

I was really surprised to see how normal "web images" look when placed in a higher resolution for print....very very grainy. Thanks for seeing what you've got!

But that does spark the question, what is RAW?

Re: Some 300dpi Pictures

RAW is just data, not an actual image. Most of the time an image is "processed" in camera to make an image from the data. If you convert that data in a computer YOU have control, not the camera.

Scott, RAW format is when there is no in camera adjustments are made, so you get the image just as the sensor "see" it and resord it--> untouched by the cameras software.
It's a bit more involved than that, I think, but this is how I understand it.
I sent you couple of images, by the way, via email. You know, you never said what dimensions you needed, it would help if I knew that then I could save it to exact specifications you need so you wouldn't have to mess with it and waste time.

Not the older versions. I know photoshop cs and cs2 have build in processor for the RAW data and a range of adjustments for white balance and a lot more.
There are some other, specially designated programs out there.

Re: Some 300dpi Pictures

Uhhh, well I really don't know. I can't open some of the e-mails you sent me through webmail (due to the size) and need to wait until I get home to check them all out.

Re: Some 300dpi Pictures

Sounds good, that is why I started sending them one at a time... I thought you may have issues with size.
