How about some actinic shots?

Got any? Post some here if you got them.
I'll start with a couple...

Charlie and Mike, I know you two have some. I'm interested to know your technique and eqipment used.
I'm having difficulties taking full tank shots with actinics only.

Re: How about some actinic shots?

Those are very good Gene! It has been a LONG time since I have tried an actinic only shot...mostly because my 1 actinic bulb is going on 2 years old, and it has lost a LOT of brightness.

I may try a shot or 2 though tonight.

Ok, I'll bite, but give me until tomorrow AM, then I'll be able to remember what I did

Did you want actinic closeups or full tank/coral shots Gene?

I could dig some old ones out of my gallery, but I would have no idea as to what equipment was used.

Charlie, post whatever you got but if you have a full tank shot it would really help.
I'll look up the exif and see which lens you used as I think I know pretty much what's in your camera bag( unless you got something new you didn't tell me about )

Mike, give it a shot and post some...lets have some fun.

Re: How about some actinic shots?

Here is one of my 80 gallon:

This is the 300 in Nov.

I will try and get some more current stuff tomorrow in the morning.

Re: How about some actinic shots?

Nice stuff, Charlie. Interestingly, your 300 has more of the purple tint to the shots compared to the 80g tank. Did you have the same bulbs on both tanks or were they different? I like the coloration of the 80g tank picture best.

Re: How about some actinic shots?

At that time Gene, you are looking at 6 actinic bulbs, 2-4' and 4-3', over the 300, and just 2-4' over the 80. As of right now, I only have 2 actinics over the 300, that is why I wanted to take some more current ones in the morning. Oh heck, I just like taking tank pics and it will give me an excuse to do that.

I was wondering if the distance from the tank might make a difference, but I think those are all taken from within 6'.

Just because of what you said, I am now tempted to try those T5 bulbs you are looking into.

Re: How about some actinic shots?

This are nice, Charlie. For some reason I have difficulties with the full tank shots but close up's are turning out OK( in term of colors). The full tank shots are mostly washed looking and noisy in the shadows( which I expect but not that much).

here's close up shot and color is pretty much dead on of what it looks like under actinic VHO's.
