Re: Trying to put my camera to the test
Sorry Guys... I don't know how this slipped through me.
Those are pretty cool pictures, I agree about motion blur helping you there. To get more motion in the images, you have to slow the shutter way down, I haven't shot NASCAR before, so I am going to guess, maybe 1/160th 1/250th??? You have to PAN with the cars though, and that is a trick in itself. This will sound silly, but try to shoot cars on the road, panning with them to practice. As for lens choice, the 28-135 lens is a great all around gem, but it is kinda pricey. Tank photography and "real life" are two completely different animals unfortunately. If you use your camera ONLY for tank work, then get a true macro like the ones that have been recommended already, if you are like the rest of the world, you may have to compromise on tank work to get a better all around performer. (Heck I earn 50% of my living with my camera, and I don't have a true macro lens! LOL) Oh back to the BUd girls..... J/K |

Re: Trying to put my camera to the test
How much of getting true color is in the white balance? I still can't figure that out!

An improper white balance setting will make all the colors look really funky. If your tank is like most, try the "Shade" setting, that should get you pretty close. |
