    Extension Rings

Well a certain friend of mine let me borrow his extension tubes to play with for a while....

    Here are the preliminary results:

    Montipora something....

Purple tang, very small DOF, but I thought this was cool!

    Pseudochromis.

    Cool Clown pic...

    Garf Bonsai

Has anyone seen these before? Can you ID them for me? That GOLD color is really cool, it looks like the gold flecks in a certain Cinnamon beverage.

    A. Nana?

These were all taken by my 70-200 with a 500d and extension rings from Kenko. This is a first run with these, and I have a long way to go to perfect the use of them, that is for sure!

Thanks a bunch Gene! I will post more results as I get more time to play with them, time to start up the grill and make some burgers!

    Re: Extension Rings

Most of them have the 20 and 36mm on there. The fish pics are all at 2.8 too, so that is why the DOF is so narrow... Chasing a fish around with a 500D PLUS the tubes is a real JOY! ;)

Somehow I can just picture you walking around the tank trying to get a fish to stand still long enuf for you to focus and shoot the pic.

Why do I get a laughing sensation?????????

The fish even are looking at you going what the ......................................, did you realize that???

YA... Especially the tang! I think I was lucky because I had the camera set on high frame rate. At 8.5 pictures a second, I was bound to get one or two keepers!

    Re: Extension Rings

LOL. You guys are a riot...

Mike, glad they make to you OK. I like coral close ups a lot but wonder what the results would be if you could try without the diopter?

Also, I think this tubes are meant to be used on stationary subjects. I don't know how you managed to get those fish shots with them. I certainly couldn't get any keepers.

PS. The coral in question is beautiful but I can;t say for sure that it is a A.nana. Mine does not have green polyps at all on it.
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

    Re: Extension Rings

Mike, if that is a frag that was sent to you by a little known sheep farmer in MT., That is what I use to a nana. I have since been told it was either a valida or a Tricolor, which I always thought was a valida. Let's just call it an acro with purple tips and green polyps, then we are safe.

That is the one Charlie! I think you are right, it is a nice little piece that is for sure. I will include it in the frag pack you will get from me when you say you are ready. ;)

We ought to get Kevin on here, and ask him. If you noticed, I brought home 3 different variations of the same coral when I went to Spokane.

Gettin real close Mike, real close. If it would ever stay out of the 20's here for over 2 weeks, I might have to give the go ahead!!!

Well, maybe I exaggerate a bit, let's say 30's, and then we can call it good. It is supposed to be 60 on Sunday, but I am not gonna hold my breath!!!!
