I am about to go from THIS which just bit the dust to THIS.

The Sony is old and it does not power on anymore. I changed the battery, purchased a new charger and it still will not fire up for more than a few seconds.

I've been wanting a new one anyway. The new one will be a 10.1 mega pixel as compared to my 4.1 mega pixel. Even though the XS is the older model, the new one being a XSi, I think for the price I like it.

Not sure if I would be able to tell the difference between the two as the XSi is a 12 mega pixel.

I am sure the DSLR will do very well for you, don't sweat the difference in MP, you won't see a difference.
