You know what, I really don't know because I usually don't have that much in my shots. I'll be waiting for Mike's explanations with you.![]()
Ok Mike and Gene. I took these yesterday, resized them just for posting here, I do not have the originals. They are actinic shots, duh, how do you get rid of the red haze? No tripod, just freehand. Increase the exposure???

Hey Charlie! Actinic only shots are VERY hard for a SLR, the light spectrum is just not at all what it is expecting to see. I usually end up in Av mode and use a -1.5 or -2 on the EV scale. Also, I have noticed the CA (Chromatic Aberrations) seem to get worse with longer shutter speeds. We have to remember that violet and blue are very HIGH energy wavelengths, so when a camera sensor "sees" that color it is recorded brighter then other colors are due the energy it carries.
Try again with higher ISO's and shorter shutter speeds to see what you get. ;)
Ok Mike, Ithink I catch what you are saying. I took 3 more that we can look at, this time I kept the orig. shots also. These are dark, but I have not even attempted photoshop yet.All were shot in manual mode. Could these be brightened up a bit with photoshop?

I am sure they can. Those are to small for me to do anything with- E-mail me the raw file please. ;) I bet you knew that was coming right?
Also, that first one looks OOF (out of Focus). Make sure to send me a good sharp image. ;)
I did not shoot these in RAW Mike.
Which one do you want, and I shall send it your way.

Uh... Take me a fresh one. Those all look soft.
Charlie,
I shot this picture with your old camera and that kit lens that I sent you. Now, don't ask me what I did( I don't remember now) but the picture came out really good I thought. Never had any red fluorescing in the image.
I have to agree with Mike on the faster shutter speeds, it should help some when shooting actinics.
Kind regards,
Gene.

Charlie,
Any progress with the new toy? Some more images you'd want to share?

I was thinking the same thing Gene!!!!
I am gonna have alot of spare time today, so I think I will get the toy out and play a bit. I have a bunch of pics from last week that I haven't even processed yet. Maybe what I should do is shrink them down a bit and post them before I go around screwing things up. I used almost every lens I have last week!!!!!! I wish like heck it would warm up a bit so I could get out and take some nature stuff. With a below 0 wind chill factor, it is not real condusive to playing outside!!!!!

Nor it is real condusive for your camera and lenses to be freezing outside...
Yeah, post them here once you resize them. I'm interested to see how it's progressing for you. I was thinking to maybe sell my xt body and get either 40 or 50D. I also saw nice 5D (used) at the B&H but full frame body would require me to sell my 60mm lens and I really like that piece of glass.
I'll open another thread if I do change my camera body.![]()

Totally off the main topic here, but what do you guys think about my lens choices for my trip to Las Vegas. I am thinking about the 28-135, the 70-200, and the 20mm. I think that should cover just about anything I would need to get.

Charlie,
I'm not sure about that 28-135 lens. It's not bad But I would stick with the 70-200 lens for the reach and I'm not sure what's that 20mm lens like.
I think you need another, good quality wide angle zoom lens for the whole track shots, preferably something in the 12-24mm range. Tokina 12-24 comes to mind, I wanted this lens for a long time now but don't want to shell out 400+ when I already have 17-40L. Maybe I should start playing lottery?
PS. Maybe Mike can lend you his 70-200 f2.8 IS? Or his 24-70? That would be a killer combo to have.
When are you going?
Kind regards,
Gene.

Well, I see some flaws, Charlie, but I also like them as they are pretty realistic looking. Last shot looks a bit soft but it;s probably the lens and not you. Which one did yo use?
Anyway, you can probably sharpen that shot a pich after resizing and should be just fine. A lot is lost when you resizing jpeg files, hence you need to touch up the sharpening tool. Not crazy but enough to make it pop a little. ;)
Kind regards,
Gene.

What is the difference between the 70-200 f2.8, and the 70-200 f4L that I have?
I need to take a look at that other lens.
I am leaving the 25th of Feb.
