    OT-pix from my LFS

I went today with my granddaughter to the local fish store so that I could take few shots of their new 300g starphire front tank. It's been in operation for about 8-9 weeks and I must say I like how it looks.

Center fixture wasn't on due to the fact that the chiller hasn't arrived yet, and abviously those 400 watters would heat it up real bad...
    Anyway, here;s the front view.

    and side view...

Also took couple of shots of the resident fishies in there, not all of them but a couple.

They have a slew of this anthias in there, look real pretty...

They also had this beautiful Cirrhilabrus pylei fairy wrasse.

There was another fairy wrasse supermale in there but I couldn't take his picture because he was so camera shy...
    Maybe next time.
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

I also met an interesting fellow named "Klondike", my granddaughter made me take his picture as well. Klondike says hello and many other words, kinda smart little dude...

Not sure what this guy's name was but I took his picture too. He looked so cozy warming under the lights...

And this fella as well.., didn't ask his name either...

And then I couldn't control myself any longer so I took this picture, too. He looked like he wouldn't give two hoots what I was doing...
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

Great shots Gene. My favorites are the anthias and of course, the Pylei wrasse
Blennies and Gobies are the coolest fish in the ocean! Latest video of my tank.

Nice pics Gene. Is he using Lumenarcs???? I like how you put that first pic together, it sure shows the coverage of that certain reflector!!! Where's the pic of your granddaughter though????

Nope, no Lumenarcs, Charlie. Those are IceCap's pendants with the 400w bulbs in them(DE). I suggested adding couple of either VHO or T5's in there so you can turn off center pendant and still be able to mask lack of coverage. I don't know if they will do it or not, though. It is mainly a display tank for the store and won't be housing too many "sps" corals in it.
It will be a mixed reef, I think, with colorful representation of most that is available. I think that LPS will probably dominate it and only top of the reef will have some sps corals. I'll be visiting to monitor progress and will post some udates.
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

I like your suggestion about the supplementation. Is he going to be selling coral out of the tank, or maybe just growing for fragging????

I don't know about selling from this tank, probably some but I don't think they'll be doing much of the writing on that starphire glass, though.
I think they'll be selling some if it is show pieces and such, but they do have lots of other tanks with corals for sale.., from polyps to sps types.
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

Either way!!!! It is gonna be nice to have a 300 gallon starphire tank to oogle at when you go to that store!!! I imagine your camera will be able to get a workout there just watching its progression.

    Oh, yeah...

I think they expecting a shippment of corals this coming week, so I'll be sure to visit to see what Kris (guy that is in charge of this tank from the very start, plumbing and all...) had ordered and what is going on this particular tank.
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

I imagine that if this is going to be a LPS tank, he is probably going to get some pretty good diversity in there. Could be real colorful too. Think about my post in your light thread!!!!! There are some really nice Lobos that you can get to color things up a bit, don't you think???
