    photos, tips

i've been trying to take better pictures without any macro tools of the tank.

any tips on iso, shutter speed, aperture settings?

these were taken at 800 iso, 8F, and i believe 125 SS

i get jealous of gene, charlie, and posidens pics

i have a Hi1 setting for iso but i get alot of noise

I gotta give this one a bump for you, sorry, I have been a little busy lately and I kind of missed this.
Are these pics taken under actinic lites??

I would slow down the ISO to about 200, especially for the coral pics, they definitely don't move as fast as fish do, so give them the time to show up

    What camera are you using???

hey charlie, im using a nikon D40 digital slr no macro lenses, they are under 4 T5's; 2 Giesmann blue+, 1 Giesmann pure actinic, and 1 UVL aquasun 10kk all 24" i think the shutter speed kept them dark, but i was going for clarity without a tripod heh...

also i have photoshop cs2 and coral photo-paint. but i snap the shots in 3008x???? fine settings. not raw

edit, i have the 18-55mm stock lens

    Tim,

To reduce noise a bit I would definitely dial ISO down, use tripod if your hands are shaky. Your stock lens is not the best lens for close up work, so you need to learn it;s limitations and work around them.
For starters, I would stop down to about f5.6 or f8, slow down your shutter some to ensure proper sxposure and mount your cam on the tripod.
Here's easy to understand (I think, at least) lessons on the web. Hope it will help you some.

    Kind regards,
