    AF Point

Mike, or Gene, for that matter, could you explain the AF points and the advantages/disadvantages to using the different types of AF points. TIA

I am using the Canon 40D camera.

    Re: AF Point

Hey Charlie, not really much to it. The center AF is a cross type, meaning it is more sensitive and locks in faster then the others. The AF points are just tools, sometimes you want to use all 9, other times maybe just one. It depends on your composition, and what you are looking to do.

Let's say for example, macro shots. Don't you want the main focus to be on the particular coral you are shooting?

    Re: AF Point

Well yes, but usually for macro I use manual focus, especially with the 100mm lens. With the 24-70 I am not usually that close to where the focus point becomes critical.

Also, maybe your focal point and subject are not dead center in the frame....
