I got to play around with a 50 megapixel camera today and wanted to share a picture from this amazing piece of equipment.

Now my sad little 10mp camera is feeling so inadequate

Sweet picture. I never even heard of a 50 MP camera. If I wasnt so engulfed in the reefing, I would definitely look into a better camera. Love all the detail in this photo.

Thanks! The amount of detail is amazing and so is the dynamic range it's able to capture.

Greg, I almost pulled the trigger on a used 1DMKII but decided to save my pennies for the new camera, not used. You never know how many clicks are left in the 6 years old body...

Anyway, that picture is simply amazing! If you don't mind I would love to use it for the wallpaper on my desktop.

Wow! That's some gorgeous corals.
Is that from that long and beautiful display at the store or is it a private set up?

PS. Thanks for the wallpaper, it is perfect fit for the resolution on my monitor.

Private. And yeah- that coral is so stunning... there are about two dozen totally amazing corals in that tank and that one pretty much blows them all away.

IMHO no glass exists that could facilitate a 50MP picture. It'd be like taking a 15MP picture and blowing it up with software, assuming that's the max of the lens (not too far fetched).

Still really neat, but thought I'd point out that lenses have resolution too.
