Fairchild Air Force Base Skyfest 2010

We went to the airshow, yesterday, and endured 100++ temperatures, for 7+ hours!! Many bottles of water and lots of sun screen. Angie still found herself sunburnt in a few places. All in all, it was a wonderful time and well worth the heat!!

This is my first attempt to photograph an airshow, so please be gentle...lol. Any advice, comments, suggestions, for next time, would be very welcome!!

    Canon 7D
    18-200 IS

I took over 1300 pictures...lol. I decided against posting them all!! lol

Here's a few highlights. Many more pictures can be found on my Flickr site, here. Fairchild Air Force Base Skyfest 2010 - a set on Flickr

    B-25 Mitchell Bomber

    C-17 Globemaster

Jacquie B in her Pitts Red Eagle
This lady is 56, learned to fly while living right here, in Spokane, for 22 years. She's one of the few women flying acrobatic airplanes and she is AMAZING!! Google Jacquie B, for much more information!!

She stalls out, in a flat spin....

    F-86 Sabre Jet

    F-4 Phantom

Heritage Flight, made up of P51 Mustang, F4 Phantom and A10 Thunderbolt aka Warthog
P-51 flew in the Korean War
F-4 flew in the Vietnam War
A-10 Warthog flies, currently, in Iraq and Afganistan

    The Stearman Biplanes
Built in the 30s and 40s. These planes were also used, right here in Washington, as Air Protection, at Hanford Nuclear Reservation, in the mid 40s, as part of The Manhattan Project, to develop Atomic Bombs.

    More to come...

    Geico Extra 300S Stunt Plane

Smoke N Thunder Jet Car Ummm 0-450 MPH in 5 seconds!!

A little Macho showing off, prior to the race they're about to do...Yes, they race!!

Unfortunately, my pictures of the race are bad. There were a bunch of people in my way. Anyway, the 300S was in flight and the jet car was at a stop. As the stunt plane flew over the jet car, inverted, the jet car took off. Within less than 1/8th of a mile, the jet car had passed the stunt plane. The jet car runs on bio-fuel and uses 3 gallons per SECOND!!

    F/A-18 Super Hornet

    B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber

Stay tuned for the main event....

    The USAF Thunderbirds!

    Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcons

Scissor pass. Look close. These 2 jets just passed one another, after crossing each other's path and turning opposite one another.

Care to Belly Bump?? Let's hope not!!

Head on over to my Flickr site, to see lots more!!

Awesome bunch of photos- looks like you had a blast. It's been ages since I went to an airshow but I sure love taking these kinds of pictures.
Blennies and Gobies are the coolest fish in the ocean! Latest video of my tank.

Re: Fairchild Air Force Base Skyfest 2010

Thank you Greg! Yes, it was a wonderful time and lots of fun trying to capture pictures of something going up to 700 mph...lol. They did have one jet go Transonic, creating a visible shock wave (Prandtl–Glauert singularity). I sure wish I'd have been able to get a picture of that, but I was waiting for that jet and another to pass one another, so had the camera pointed at a different point...lol.
