    1600 gallon display tank

I took my granddaughter to the local aquarium (Tropiquarium) and brought my camera with me. Unfortunately I couldn't take a full tank shot because it is set up as a room divider and is too close to the front entrance. Another words reflections galore... So I had to go on the other side and try an angle shot.., came out acceptable for online viewing but no where it does this tank justice.

Anyway, I'll attach images of the full tank shot and couple of coral shots as well, hope you enjoy.

Few more, note the last image of the frag tank... ;)

PS. They were quite busy that day so I could not take more images of the fish and such, but perhaps next time I can go there alone and in the evening, and take few more shots.

I hope I can do a better job next time, twisty.
You know what I mean about reflections in that gorgeous tank...It is way too close to the front windows to do a real good full tank shots, perhaps I can do this at night to capture both sides of it. I need to ask the owner if he will allow me to do a photo session after they close...

Anyways, glad you like the images.
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

Those pics are great! The tank is amazing too. I visited the Aquarium of the Pacific last weekend and the health of their reef tanks is pretty good but nothing compared to what you just posted.

Thanks, Greg! They have two tanks that I think are equally sized, forming sort of an entrance into the salt water section. The other tank housing butterflyfish and some other, more aggressive fishes, if I remember correctly. I couldn't take a shot of that tank because people were always in front of it.. You know how that goes... And I couldn't wait for them to move because I had to keep an eye for my granddaughter. Oh, well...maybe next time I'll be more lucky.
I also forgot my polarizing filter to reduce the reflections and glare... age plays funny tricks with one's memory...
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

lol- age plays funny tricks on everything Thank god for autofocus!
I got a monopod for these aquarium outings. The other day I saw a monopod with little tiny feet so the pod will actually stand on it's own. It's made mainly for video people but I may get one anyhow.

    Re: 1600 gallon display tank

Hey Greg, I actually have a monopod as well, nice carbon fiber one. However I am thinking of getting one with the small legs as well, much easier for longer exposures. As far as autofocus goes I forgot when I used manual focus last time... And to make matters worse I slipped and fell while holding my prescription glasses in my hand...Whoops! Now I'm waiting for the new ones, so no pictures taking for now.
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

Yeah, wet grass doesn't make good surface for soccer playing for the folks my age...

Anyway, I got those cheapie cheaters myself but those are all old ones. My vision changed dramatically from last year, or so what the doctor told me when I went to get a new prescription. This time I got some sort of trailing(like almost seen a double image) on the object in the right eye, but hopefully new glasses will fix that. If not, I'll just close my right eye when taking photos...
    Kind regards,

    Gene.
