Setting a custom white balance for tank photos?

Does anyone set a custom white balance for shots of corals/fish/tanks? I'm trying to get pictures to resemble what they look like in person (as close to as possible anyways). Most of the shots I take make it look too blue or washes out the colors. I am a super novice when it comes to photography so any tips would be greatly appreciated. I'm using a Canon E0S 50D with some lens extensions and a 28-135 lens.Thanks and go easy on me!

I never bothered with custom white balances for aquarium photography- I know a lot of people do so take it for what it's worth.
Nowadays you don't even need to have a camera that shoots a raw format because Lightroom (probably other programs as well) will change the color temp of jpegs. I just use auto wb and then tweak in Lightroom. Lightroom has color sliders, color temp adjustments and lots of other tweak-ability and I consider it a must-have. Not cheap but worth it if you do a lot of aquarium photography. Photoshop can do the job well too but Lightroom is better and faster for simple stuff like color and exposure adjustments.
