Is packaged drinking water safe?

hi guys.just setting up my 120 gal fowlr which i plan to convert to a reef setup later. just wondering if its safe to use bottled drinking water to prepare the salt water. I mean later on for the reef setup i can add the trace elements seperately? Any suggestions?

Check and see if the bottled water you are purchasing is filtered by reverse osmosis. If it is not it could be just tap water!

I would have to agree with the waterguy above my previous job was water cartage for a large bottled water company there are no regulations on bottled water so there is not necessarily any filter process in place 50% of what went out of where I worked was filter through a filter sock only, and the water was from a bore. I would never drink bottled water nor put it in my tank but I stress this may not be the case in your water or are! Please please check it yourself and have it checked at your local aquarium store first
