    Angry It happened...

Well, what I fear the most had happened.
My newest clone of the rose bta had moved under my pink pocillopora and by the time I noticed it... it's a stark white now. When I moved the colony only one small part of it showed visible injury yesterday but this morning it is gone completely. It's getting really old already and I'm at the point that I'm thinking of yanking all three of them out

    Sorry to here it.
I dont keep anemone's anymore just for that reason and they get to big in time taking up to much room in the tank.

i gave up on anemones awhile ago too-unless the focus of the display is anemones-i feel they are a poor choice.they grow huge -they move around and are just general pains in the butt in a reef tank.

    never again .....

    Gene,

SO sorry to hear about your coral...

What a pain -- to have 1 really beautiful creature in your tank zap another equally beautiful one.

Ever considered setting up an anemone and clam tank? You could combine all your fabulous clams with all your fabulous anemones and everyone could co-exist... I bet it would be GORGEOUS -- all that rose mixing in with the blues and greens!!!

    Hi Rebecca,

Yeah, it could look gorgeous for a short while and then BAM, all clams would be dead and I'll have one big clam chowder
Sooo, I'll pass on this idea
That particular coral was grown from a frag I got from SueT and I'm really p****d
    Kind regards,

    I know how you feel

    Gene:

That sucks, I know how you feel.

I am slowly recovering from the whole tank problems and just when I thought things are getting better, Boom... another coral RTN.

Now I got another few more frags of nobilis in my tank, then I have the humili and I have the pocillipora and I have.... nothing but frags, Damn.

    Take care.

    Hi Andrew,

Sorry to hear you still having problems with your tank I hope the rtn/sdr events I had are over with
It seems that things have come down but you never know. I got couple of frags today from Allen as well, just couple of stugs, brown and a blue/green(maybe formosa?)

here's some pics of them, btw, don't worry about having alot of frags-sometimes I feel like that is the safest way to go,especially when I was having those rtn events

Oh boy I would seriously consider quarantine tank for the remaining pieces,Andrew, and do maybe some big water changes and carbon 24/7 for awhile. I can feel your pain my friend...
I hope it leaves you alone indeed, good luck!
    Kind regards,

    Unhappy Dude

    Gene:

Everything started with the lost Fed Ex package when I tried to save these two beautiful corals an online vendor sent me. Also, when they replaced the corals for me? (after a few weeks and I was doing constant water change. I think the NYS really love me then cause I finished 2X 200g Tropic Marine sea salt in a three weeks)

Those corals they sent were beautiful indeed but they later folued my system big time.I mean the tank stunk like hell and the ETSS 800 would not work unless I change 50% of the water. I also used 2X 4 pounds ESV carbon then and finally, things settle down and I took advantage of Allen's giant sale and got myself three corals to see if the tank is back to normal.

They were doing great but the last piece that survived from this particular vendor starts to RTN yesterday for no reason and took these other two today with it.

FWIW, I did not want to take any risk and took out these two coals immediately. I am collecting water right now and I think from now on
, I will only deal with Allen becaus all his stuff are doing great in my tank and only when I get stuff from other places that I will have problems. I still have corals from Allen today after alomst two years.
Finally, I will follow Borenman's recommendation- slow acclimation initially and change water and carbon after the coral is introduced into the system fo about a week.

This sounds like a good plan, Andrew.I wish you luck in saving your remaining corals and tank in general. It is always a risk introducing new specimens, regardless of the vendor I think. I think in my case the pieces I've lost were in good health, but for some reason they did not do well in my tank and I'm staying away from certain Acroporas(like tables for example). I have a frag of the tabling Acropora from Patrick Monaghan(anthocercis) and it had really done well so far.Keeping color and growing quite fast as well.
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

    Talking Thanx Buddy

Thanx for the words of encouragement, Gene.

THe reaon why I rather deal with Allen is that not only he has some really qualitative stuff, knows what he is doing and honest but he is willing to let the coral settle in his system bfore he send them out to me. I it is not stabl, he would tell me so.

Most other vendors would want to rush the stuff they have out to the buyers right after they get their corals in from the wholesaler. For this, I will give Allen my business. He also has space issue but he would do it whenever he could.

All my remaining corals are doing great just the new ones are affected by this last piece coral I get from the other onlin vendor. Water is ready and I will change the water tomorrow.

Also, Allen got a new supplier and I think he has nice stuff in right now.
I can always look, right?? LOL! This is an addictive hobby and I need help. LOL!

    Talking LOL!

    Organicdude:

Yeah, actually, i beat you in the testimonial part, I was dealing with him when he had that really UGLY site. LOL!! What I remember from Allen was that he had a dual green humili type coral then and he was selling it for $60 something, LOL!!

Anyway, I want to see your turquois stag pic because the place you got it from is actually the vendor I was referring to. I want to see how is the corals from you and others in the long run cause I basically gave up on this vendor. Don't get me wrong, both owners are great people but it is just that their stuff don't agree with my tank for some reasons.

Yeah, the cap is amazing!! Don't forget to post the pic and put me on your frag list. LOL!!!

    Smile Agreed

I agree with both of you about Allen. he does have nice and healthy stock and I've bought from him numerous times as well. I just stoped buying tables and such and things improved on the survival rate.
Everything he sold me looked really healthy and good size, whatever losses I had was my fault,IMO. I usually reasearch before I buy but probably not enough that time.
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

Thanks, but I still think that it was my overconfidance that I can keep it that did it

Now that I got that out of my system,it's all much better One day though, I'm sure I'll get a system set up that will support this types of corals;)
    Kind regards,

    Talking My table

    Gene:

I got a pink table from Allen and even with all the ups and downs in my tank, it is doing great. I no longer try large tables and got this small one (4") from Allen and acclimated it SLOWLY for the water part but give it 100% lighting because this particluar table has been in Allen's system for more than a month under his 400W Radium.

In my tank, it is up a this edge where the table is getting very nice flow, strong lighting and etc. So far so good. I think try them small and let them adapt is the key also.
