Hi all,
I have this particular Euphyllia ancora for about 5yrs and never really seen its sceleton due to the full extention of the tentacles. As I was removing one of my rose bta clones(wich was attached to the coral BTW) I had to remove this coral and that is when I noticed the new sceleton growth. When I first got it,it had small part where tissue were dead and gone- the new growth followed exactly the same form as the old one and never reclamed the dead area. here's some pics ![]()

The first pic was taken with actinics only,so this one shows the coral extended fully.

Thank you, April.
Interesting thing is, I could never find another Euphyllia that was as healthy as that one. I had tried another about a year ago and it died within a week or two, bleached first and then was consumed by brown jelly infection I gave up and never tried again. It had very unique shape and color....Perhaps the collection and handling is very different then five years ago. I just remembered that my coral was in the lfs for about 6-8mo. but nobody wanted to buy it becouse of the damaged area...go figure![]()

Hi Thomas,
To be honest,I'm not so sure I've done anything different that what you've been doing. I think I just got lucky and bought a really healthy coral five years ago, becouse it's actually in the tank that I call a disaster tank. I set it up all wrong,CC for the bed and been fighting nitrates ever since, can't ever bring it down bellow 10 ppm regardless of the amount of water changed.I do keep alk and calcium on the high side and run 2 250w Mh suplemented with 2 140w VHO actinics. I also have huge skimmer for this tank and run carbon just about 24/7 now. Like I said, pure luck wich aint a bad thing to have sometimes ![]()
