What is this from my skimmer?

My AquaC EV-150 skimmer hasn't been performing too well on my 100 gallon. I recently took the injector off to clean it out and this is what I found inside it. I emailed this pic to Jason at the company and he said that it might be impeller blades from the Rio powerhead. Guess that's gonna have to get replaced. Anyone else disagree?

They really do not look like impeller blades. Most blades are plastic and the items in the picture look like metal. They look like some type of clip to hold something together.

The new smaller RIO's us those type of blades on thier impelers I have some on my rio 800 that is sitting in a box some where.
Are you using a smaller under 1400 rio some where?
If your using a rio soem where take it apart see if teeth are missing and then never use a rio again. They are part of a terroist plot to destroy you tank.

Those do look like RIO blades. Did your RIOs have a hard time starting? I broke a lot of my blade by trying to kickstart it by poking the RIO's impeller with a long object such as a chopstick.

I dug around in the pump some more and found a snail shell broken in half. So, those must've been the blades.

Now I guess its time for another pump. I have heard the RIO's are bad, but is the 3100 ok? That's what I was using to power my skimmer and it was quiet and didnt draw too much power. What other pumps would work?

Thanks.

I would invest in a MAG drive if I were you.

Mag pumps rule!!

But seriously, I am using a Mag 18 to run my MR-1 and it does a great job. Maybe a touch on the noisy side but i can overlook that for now.
