I am starving our tank of light right now to try and get rid of this red macro algae. It is working however other things are suffering. I still haven't got to Louisville to pick up our new skimmer which I need to do. We have a buying freeze until this algae is gone! ![]() How's your tank doing; recovering? |

And this is just one more of the center of the tank.
Scott, How long you figure it would take to choke the living c***p outta that algae with reduced lighting? I'm personally considering breaking down my 110g and get rid of the rocks, sand and maybe the whole darn thing Nothing eats my "lovely" C. serrulata and it really getting old with manual removal and getting bit by my crazed Clarkii.

I don't have any pics but I did get my Limited Edition frags from Steve Tyree yesterday. I was on the list for the Chuuk stag acropora aspera-super nice frag. Big thick branching stag thats blue. I got the Ponhpei rainbow acropora Steve calls the acropora rosaria.
This frag is indeed a rainbow of colors. It is awesome and also nice sized. The I got his new limited editon of the blue on blue corallite acropora prostrata. Nice frag for sure too. Then there were about 6 other frags that ranged from a deep blue acropora tenuis to acropora horrida in 2 colorations to an acropora grandis stag.I wish I had a camera. ![]() |

Gene,
Well I have starved it for about a month straight now and it is clearing; slowly. The left side of the tank is almost clear and the right side (sits nearest a window) is getting thinner but still has a lot. ![]() |

That's what I thought,Scott-slow and painfull proccess If I could get someone to house my livestock for a month or so,I'm more amd more leaning towards breaking up my 110g flop and maybe setting it back up,with DSB and a refugium and the works. On top of the Caulerpa problem I have a lovely forests of the Aiptasia covering rocks and overflows in a hurry and even on the top of Caulerpa too Eversince my copperband died it came back with the vengence and I simply gave up after failed attempts of killing them manualy. Do you still have some livestock in your tank,Scott? How do they tolerate reduced light and all? Hope it ends soon for you guys and you can go back to restocking and enjoying your tank for a change.

You sure have been MIA lately and I missed your presence in the SPS section When you said you're starving your tank, did you mean to say that you not putting any additional pieces in or...? I'm scheduled to leave for Bermuda at the end of the month and I'm honestly scared to leave my tanks this time. My son had moved way down south of Jersey and can't just drive for over an hour to look on my tanks so it will be interesting when I comeback Hopefully my daughter can pay attention long enough to remember everything she will have to do when I leave ![]()
