    Ninong,

Thank you! I have also concidered nobilis but was sort of confused as to how pointy the branches looked in Verons book, especially in that massive thicket, also the radial corallites looked more of the same size to me as opposed to mixed sizes(according to Veron).
Now you see why I'm always so confused
Here's one more pic and I'm sorry for loading this thread with the pics, you can delete some of them after we done with this
BTW, the pic is taken after about two hours after introduction and it has much more growth now.

    Gene,

Take a look at this guy's Montipora capricornis:

Now, so what is opinion on that stug-still think it might be nobilis?
If you do,I'll have to go with your ID for now.
    ;)
    Kind regards,

I'm not making an ID guesstimate on your staghorn, I just wanted you to check out A. nobilis so that you could see if yours looks anything like that. Maybe if you want to post a lot of pics of it, including with full polyp extension, we can all guess some more.

There are other possibilities, too, just use AIM's CoralSearch feature and enter "Acroporidae" for Family, "Acropora" for genus, "Branching" for morphology and "Indo-Pacific" for region and then check out the 794 possibilities it returns.

You could always frag a piece and bleach it to remove the tissue so that you can examine the skeleton under a microscope.

Just list it under your tank's livestock as Acropora sp.

    Hey Elmo,
anytime you like,it is big enough to make lots of frags and I would love to have a piece of your beautiful orange morph.
