Any negative effects?

Sorry another newbie question!!! (Actually this tank is 1.5 years in the making and still not even close - I should think of another name than newbie!!!)

Any one have their refugium lighting set up side ways? I have a 55 PC over the fuge, but it is a ten hex so I worry about the light penetrating. My thought was to boost the PC with two small NO's set up side ways. Any warnings?

Augmenting your overhead lighting with side lighting is unique, and no harm should come from it.

Watch for increased algae production. If that occurs, and you want to keep the additional lighting try reducing the photoperiod.

Thats an interesting idea. There wouldn't be any harm at all other than loosing a little intensity going through the glass. Since it is your refugium, it shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure you can keep that side of the glass as clean as possible, inside and out.
