tank update

here are some pics of my tank. its a 180 with dual overflows. All plumbed now. All it needs is water which I will do after I install the floor jacks in the basement.

Lighting 5/400 watt MH (3-20k) (2-6500K)
Circulation: Bornmean surge device, 2 tunze 6080, 1 tunze 6060, mag 3600 on spit returns
DSB- I will be using all I can from my old tank.
Top of canopy is remvable for heat. also using 4-4 inch fans and a few regular fans.
GEO Calcium reactor.
Triple sump set up.

Actually I cut a reflector in two. Then mounted one side on each 6500k flanking the center 20k andthe center 20K is actually mounted to a leftover small PC reflector I had. Its seperate reflactors but they all help blend the light together/

I am trying to do it right so when I get those solitarynesis and clatherea they will thrive. I am going to do this tank in tabletops and stags with some calms and rarer colored SPS to compliment it.

This is my 30th B-day gift so I am doing it up right.

Nice! I've never seen the cut reflector idea - but it looks like it's workin' for you. Good idea.

it is th only thing I could think to do at the time D/T lighting posistion. I lost a few inches on the left D/T surge tank shelf built into the canjopy. I think though that I have great coverage for what I am doing and then how could I not with all the bulbs

Mike,

Where did you get that little white fan that you have mounted on the wall? And what size is it?

I went to Lowes yesterday because it's only 7 miles away; the nearest Home Depot is 40 miles away. The smallest fan they had was 7" and that's too big for my purposes.

Thanks,

I've seen those fans at stores like Staples & Office Depot. You might try one of those.

I got it from a local department store last summer actually. I am getting a few more. for it. I left the top removable also to help with heat.

I am setting up to large pools in my basement for frasgs now. When I get the solitarynesis colonies and formosa, yongea, toruosa, suhoesol (sp), cearealis, grandis, and hyacinthus I will be fraggingthem and putting them in the nursery to grow up. With three solitarynesis I a, hoping to get many captive bred babies out of them. That is the other reason for tweaking the tank out. I want to keep them healthy as oxes so the offspring will grow up strong so to speak

Have you turned on that Tunze Stream yet? The one in the middle of the tank facing the front glass?

Please let me know how you make out with the Streams and your sand bed. I'm saving a spot for mine but I'm not sure I can make it work in a tank as small as mine.
