More Shrimp and Fish Pictures
I took these today, they must have been in a posing mood

Interesting. Gruesome, but interesting. How long will it take them to consume a Linckia laevigata of that size? Will they eat one arm at a time before going on to the next one or do they nibble on all arms from the outside in? Does the sea star stay alive pretty much up until they start eating the central disk?
![]() P.S. -- Beautiful photography, as usual. ![]()

Northman, you will see on another thread I posted here today how the tank is doing
![]() Ninong, yes they managed to keep the starfish alive for a very long time during the feeding process. Nearly the whole way there actually. Pretty amazing stuff. |

WOW!!
That's a pretty amazing shot of the harlequins chowing down on the linkia -- I'm with Ninong. How often do you feed them one? That's also a great vantage on the clown, too -- not the usual perspective. Good luck on the teardown (just came from the other thread)... I'm sure it will go well. I still think DSBs are a good idea -- just need to be "revitalized" and added to over the long (2+ years) as the sand dissolved. It's just my opinion, based on stuff I've read by people like Bob Fenner and Anthony Calfo, who are both very strong advocates of them and their benefits. Rebecca |

Thanks Rebecca, yes definately an interesting shot from above. And those stars will last about a month ... well, one starfish per month I should say. I tend to put in 3 or 4 at a time and 3 or 4 months later I have to get them some more food
![]() The removal of the DSB should be okay. Just a lot of work for sure. I am on the fence now on DSBs. I agree that they can be replenished. But waste product eventually lands somewhere (waste from detritus to waste from the bugs that are eating it). Sooooo, I am going to give this a shot. |
