bulkhead cracked in over flow (in tank)

my bulkhead cracked, and like it seems as if trying to take it out is hard, hard to unscrew...seeing that I glued silicone on the inside rubber gasket... but dont know why.. as i turn it seems the whole (bulkehad is moving)..

i guess im wondering what i can do...
can i patch the crack and it won't affect my draining??..like how would I patch it up? with pvc glue?..
or
attempt to take it out, and redo it. but how?.. what tools exaclty do i need, seeing that w/ the basin wrench its so hard, that the threads on the bulkhead is like deformed from trying too hard.
Should I have 1 person hold the standpipe so taht the bulkhead dosent' move?.. and then try to unscrew it? its really hard...
how do u guys do the drain from underneaht the tank? the output of the bulkhead.??

please advise on a woeful one . *sigh*... just bad things happening...

thanks for at least reading..
thanks in advance...

Did you have a problem with leaking? Is that why you used the silicone? Also, what kind of tank? Is it a glass Oceanic, etc. or an acrylic? I'm I'm pretty sure Oceanic says to only hand-tighten the bulkhead- I believe their instructions say overtightening could make it leak or damage the bulkhead, or the tank...

What I would do if it's so tight that you can't do it yourself is to have someone hold the standpipe, etc. while you carefully unscrew it below. The thing I don't like about gluing the bulkheads like that is that unless you're really careful and put more than just a little bit, some of the silicone can get down in the threads and glue them, too...

I would then replace the bulkhead fitting. Many aquarium places online have them, as well as www.savko.com. I'm sure if you looked a little, you could even find the Oceanic/ All-Glass, etc. replacement. The only thing to be careful of is to make sure that the new bulkhead will fit through the hole in the tank, as well as give you room for the nut.
