gettin a new tank =)

helloooooo..........
newbie is back again =)
haha....
i have been struggling with my tiny tank.. fishies die.. but coral and anemone is doing very well... left 2 percula's =/

so i decided to get a (forgot the measurement) should be around 70 - 80 gallons? gonna check it tomorrow ...
found one 2nd hand for sale in the fish shop for RM180... which is around 48 usd.... is there any pro's and cons on 2nd hand glass tanks?
from what i see its in pretty good condition....
ok... 2ndly now i'll prepare a 20 gallon sump... a protien skimmer and lighting ...
and the remaining cash goes to the live rocks , sand and more salt..... which will leave me pretty broke...

this is what the fish shop guy told me.... for the sump... he reccomended me to put one layer of filter.. and the other 2 layer of the sump with live rock...oh and i planned to get a denitrator too... but i was recommended to get a good protein skimmer first then later only a denitrator....

question : how many lbs of live rock do i need for an average 70-80 gallon tank? should i use pure sand, or fine gravel?

further advices needed...

thanks =)

About the only thing to look for in used tanks is leaky ones but you wont find that out till you water test it when you get it home.

The skimmer first is definetly a good idea.

Live rock I go with 1-1.5 lbs per gallon of water usally closer to 1lb=1gal since I like to have some open room in the tank for swiming and stuff to grow.

The only thing I would add is to ask the seller if copper has ever been used in the tank.
