Wavemaker

I am thinking about adding a wavemaker to my reef tank, just wondering if anyone could recommend one?

Small-medium tank = Maxi-jet + Red Sea WaveMaster pro
Large-XXXL= Tunze Stream

Steer Clear of the "Aqua medic Wave", nothing but an advanced Timer.

It really depends on where you are at with your system and what you want to invenst in labor and $$$. If you are looking at adding something external to the tank, you can get a Sea Swirl and hook it up to your return line from your sump. This provides contant rotating motion at either 90 or 180 degrees.

If your looking to do it through powerheads, the Wavemaster Pro with Maxi-Jet 1200's do a great job. There are several different setting pre-programmed into the device to provide alternating current through your powerheads and also provides a feeding setting which cuts them back during feeding time.

I really like the SCWDS they are relatively inexspensive and work really nice. They switch the curent back and forth between the left and right outputs about every 6 seconds. They are mechanical so they do need to be cleaned once in awhile but otherwise they work really nice. They are rated for 1200GPH.
