Thomas,

I got him from my LFS and watched him for about three weeks prior to the purchace. He's about 3" long and seems to be holding his own against my Yellow tang and the Clarkii. I hope they leave him alone soon.

Hi guys,

Just wanted to post a pic of what happens when corals start to grow to close to one another

Looks like Pavona is kicking Montiporas proverbial arse

Thanks,Scott

I'll keep practicing...maybe I'll discover some magical setting that will allow me to take shots without spending anymore money on additional lenses and such. I know I should have waited for the CP4500 but I just got pi***d off at the vendor for not updating me about delays and cancelled my order..dum move I could have had that camera for the same money I spent on the CP885.
Oh well...

Thank you for kind words,Chuck Your pics inspire me to get a better camera in the first place and now I'm hooked, much more simple to document everything with pics then write about it,atleast for me...I'm lazy
I took a pic of my Copperband this morning,I don't know what this fish lives on but he looks great and still don't really come to feed with the rest of the fish. I had to rescue my last Acropora colony from the 110g tank(due to my rose bta move again) and the piece of rock it was attached to was covered with Aiptasia- all of them were gone by this morning I guess he finds food on his own, smart boy that he is...
Chuck, tank is doing good so far but I do anticipate problems to come up with overcrowding in as little as a 6 month if growth continues the way it is going now. I dropped a line with a hook to my wife about a new 215g AGA that I saw but she said NO,for now
I hope she will change her mind before the problems become too evident.

Gene,

Those are some great shots -- esp of the copperband and the close-up of the clam with that teeny-tiny micro star.

Now that you've found the close-up feature, DO keep using it!!!

Those are beautiful pictures!! Your copperband is a beautiful fish. I wish I had room in my tank for ONE MORE fish....

I would love a bigger tank but my husband, as tolerant as he is, would have a COW!!!!

I am trying to convience him that I need to have a KOI POND, we are working on the yard and I would love a KOI pond. I keep telling him it would be relaxing.

The hot tub goes in next week, can't wait to use it!!

Well, off to the LFS, I am sure that I will be back with some new thing!!

Take Care, and have a good day.

Great pics!!! They make me anxious to keep trying with my two-week old Coolpix 5700 (which coincided with the birth of our daughter, lol!!!)

I still need to work on steadying the camera...

Nikon does make some very nice digital cameras, don't they?

Keep posting pics!!!

James, I have a Nikon 880 and was thinking about up grading to the 5700 for more megapixels. Just don't know if the difference of the megapixels would be worth the cost. Have had my 880 for over 2 years and I must say it is a work horse. I take at least 150-200 pictures a month for my site and have never had a problem.

So far, I love the camera (it's my first digital camera)! Clarity is superb- there are manual controls for just about everything, plus it takes pretty nice pics pretty much right out the box. Nikon has a rebate out now, that helped me make up my mind.

The 5 megapixels are great- the only other digital camera I had any experience with was a 1.3 (thereabouts) Kodak that my father uses to photograph houses, etc. for real estate. I was unable to get even decent pics of the tank, or people, for that matter, lol!!!

Like I said before, the Nikon did it pretty much right out of the box. I think it's the best thing out there next to a digital SLR, at a fraction of the cost.

I haven't taken that many shots of the tank yet, but at native resolution, the pics are 1-1.5 MB in size. I could e-mail you some pics that I shrank a little, if you want.

Sorry I can't compare the two for you, I just don't have any experience with other cameras...

Gene,

Great pics all around. Especially of your serpent star and your gigas (he's getting to be a big boy, isn't he??)

Hi All,

I have been keeping an eye on my Millepora and Rosaria acros growing closer and closer together. I managed to take more or less good shot at what is going on-they actually touching now and I think the Rosaria is starting to overgrow the edge of the Millepora where it had encrusted. The interesting part is that I don't see any die off on either colony and I think Millepora accelerated its growth outward.
Here's some pics and I will be watching them closely,I promise
If one or the other starts to show some negative effects I'll have to intervene and remove one or the other colony from this area, where I can place it is another problem alltogether
There is one more pic that I have included and it is of the blue millepora that is on the other side od rosaria(its getting the double whamy from miilies )

Almost forgot Rebecca,Thanks!!! The Gigas is getting quite big indeed and I hope I can save it when I break down this 110g tank.
