my 50 gal. tank has been setup for about 3 months now, but I can't get any coraline alge to grow. All I have been getting is this green alge on my live rock. I think it my be hampering the growth of any coraline alge? anyone have any suggestions. One suggestion I got from my friend was to turn my live rock over and let the green alge die off.

YOu have to have some coraline to grow coraline. If there is none in the tank to start with then try to find a rock with some allready growing on it and place it in your tank in it should start to take off from there.
Make sure you have decent levels of calcuim and alk also.

Great pictures, that leather coral is HUGE!

It appears that you already have some coralline algaes growing in the tank as is noted on the powerhead. I don't think the green algae will prohibit your purple coralline growth, just make sure your alk and ca levels are in check and give it some time.
