Hey Elmo!
That's a great story about your Torch coral; it is fabulous to see a little baby grow up so nice and healthy.![]()
What are we looking at in the first picture?

Hi all. Just posting some new pics for this month. I'll try to post pics every month, so i wont forget ....
well here are some pics, not the best quality
Now here's a picture of the Torch coral in my 25 gallon about a year ago, as i took it down and moved stuff to my current 75 gallon tank. Its super small, got it as a hitchhiker on a colony of non-pulsing xenia. Its grown incredibly and now has two mouths visible. Its gone from less than 1 inch fully inflated to about 5-6 inches. At first i thought it was a frogspawn, but hey its a torch ;)
This week hasn't been too good either, I had to take out a snail that went into my Iwaki pump. That was not fun. I was wondering why i didnt' hear so much water flow, then checked and saw nothing was returning water from my main pump. Luckily i have another secondary return, one of those 402s powerheads.
I'm just glad there are boards like this that have helped me in this hobby. Thank you.

Looking very nice ElmoI have a question as well,in the third pic you have a Maroon clownfish hosting in something and I just wanted to know what it was
![]()
Is it an anemone?
Kind regards,
Gene.

That would be a slightly bleached bubble tip anemone specimen. It had just come out of the rockwork, so hopefully it will regain its color. I also have a rose bubble tip in there, the female maroon is proabably over there :POriginally Posted by zhenya

Elmo,
Looks like that cap. might be a little heavy on one side, so you can break me off a piece and send it on. ;)

Looking good, Elmo!
Don't feel bad about your photography skills, they have to be better than mine. I just point and click and wait to see what turns out. One of these days I'll figure out how to photograph a snail on the front glass but so far every attempt has failed. Maybe I should read the manual?![]()

Very nice reef aquarium Elmo! I also agree your cap is getting lopsided and should be fragged! Johnny![]()

I guess I'll have to get out the manual now!
But not tonight. Maybe tomorrow. ;;
Hey, I had no idea what my bristleworm really looked like up close until I got his picture up on my monitor. I use the camera to figure out what I'm looking at.
I need to take some good clear closeups of these little 10 mm snails that IPSF sold me as Strombus maculatus. I took a couple of pictures already but they weren't that great. Once I figure out how to use the stupid camera, I think I can do better. They're nice little snails and good little bitty algae grazers, they're just not S. maculatus.

George,
I've been following that thread on Rons forum and I agree on the snails, they are not S.maculatus. I have some as well that I got from Gerald at IPSF about two years ago,but I'm not complaining becouse they are pretty good algae grazers.
Also, I have quite large peanut worm that I'm trying to take pic of but so far I can not. It only comes out at night and night photography is not my strong point![]()
I'll learn one day though
Had your Nassarius v. laid any eggs yet?
Kind regards,
Gene.

Since we're talking about the S. maculatus thread on RC, I guess I'd better link it: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...hreadid=252377 Right away you will notice two things: My snails are not the same as the ones Snail Guy posted for S. maculatus and my pictures are not nearly as good as his.Originally Posted by zhenya

Yes, my Nassarius vibex lay eggs all the time. Most of the time I scrape them off the back wall if I can reach them. My Cerith snails have laid eggs twice so far. That's it. A single Cerith egg strand on the front glass the second night they were in the tank and then another egg strand last week. I'm sure there are other eggs being laid in the tank that I just can't see. I know that I have lots and lots of Stomtella varia and I started out with just three.
I had a Ctenophore in my tank early on but I haven't spotted its long distinctive pair of tentacles in several weeks now. I noticed it one night about a week after the live rock was place in the tank. It was a regular feature at night for at least a couple of weeks but I haven't seen it since I introduced my livestock. It was really something to see; the tentacles were a good 8" long. In the early days I used to see a lot of white feeding nets out at night in at least five different spots in the tank but I haven't seen those in some time now. They were probably Vermetid snails but I never got to see anything more than the feeding nets so I can't say for sure.
Have you ever tried to photograph anything in your tank at night?

Yeah sure ok so go off topic why dontcha!Just kidding!
Hehe nice pic there Gene! Looks like that pic might be upsidedown or that might be just me. ;)
Someone needs to make a cartoon using a pic of a snail that has fallen and tries hard to get flip back up, but can't :P
Ok, now im just rambling. Thanks for the comments guys. Actually I might have to frag that monti soon as its starting to shade a bunch of stuff below it. Or I could just move the whole rock down.

On that bleached anemone, do you feed it? I hope it bouce back for you soon.
Ninong,
I've tried couple of times to take pics at night but found that I don't know what I am doing at all. I had to use a flash light to focus the camera and then to use a flash but my thinking was that it might be stressfull to the very subject I'm trying to photograph![]()
