just like to share some latest pics

Well, I figured that I'll post couple of pics showing the dilemma that I'm facing at the moment: luck of space to grow for my corals without colliding with other species,genus,etc...etc. I hope that this will be an example of how not to place corals in your tank
At first there were the rescues from my 110g tank due to the anemones killing everything in site and now there are turf wars raging on in my 75g tank and it feels like I have not done any rescuing

Well it's typically not a problem that many people face but when it does happen, it can definitely become a problem. I guess it's time to set-up that 400 gallon tank now huh?

    Later,

I wish I was posting this in hopes that someone might look and think about the space that corals need to grow and don't make the same mistake that I have made. Seriously think about it ;) I never thought that i would be facing this in two years time(well, more like 1yr since the sps bug bit me) but here I am looking to get that big wrench and start knocking branches off
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

Like I said, time to get that 400 gallon tank.

Your absolutely right though Gene and it is something that is not often thought about enough, I'm guilty myself. It is even more important for us SPS keepers to consider this as often, the SPS corals are attached to large pieces of our reef structure or eventually encrust onto other rocks and in order to move it, you have to break it up. The same can happen for soft coral keepers for green stars, xenia and other fast growers that encrust rocks. Some LPS corals can grow at fast rates but since they don't encrust over our reef structure, it is much easier to move them when needed.

Not after all that, am I going to stop getting new frags and just let the ones we have grow? NO WAY! I think we can squeeze some more in there. ;)

    Regards,
    Scott Z.

Up until recently, she was worse than me about buying stuff for the tank. She's starting to get back into a bit more now that things are looking up again.

It's not that I really ever got out of enjoying buying for the tank, I just wanted to make sure that we got it straightened out before we added anything else to it. I hate adding something to it and then it dies, it's heartbreaking, and expensive!

Yeah, really heartbreaking and expensive! Oh well, I guess we've butchered Gene's thread enough for one night.

It's quite alright,Scott. Works right into the threads purpose: "think before you buy" ;)

Actually it is a sign of something great. Lots of growth, a real full looking reef. Sure you have to trim here and there, but hey, when the problems you have are in the nature of trimming, then you are doing very well.

    I think it looks great

Thanks Chuck for kind words However, I do see some die off where pieces have grown into one another and I've been spending some time working on how better to trim or "who's first"
I'll post updates if anything bad happens,I hope not though. FWIW, it is very interesting to watch which one is the dominant one and which are not and I made some discoveries that I never thought I would see. Like Montipora digitata dominating a Acropora colony
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

It's always fun to see the competition, makes you have to decide which you want more, and trim around it Keep us posted !!!!!!!!

I should have said something,it is Pocillopora damicornis. it is trying to outgrow those pesky mushrooms that keep climing its base and I can't keep up with killing them Ahh,the joys of reefkeeping :eek3:

GEne i think you're really getting a hang of those macro shots now. I just finished my tank move. I think my tank wont look as good until a month. I reaquascaped, and moved that big montipora cap lower towards the middle, so it won't shade any other corals.

Everything seems to have survived. We will see. I'm just worried about the acroporas. I've definitely hit the sps bug.

Again, awesome shots! We want more!
