AquaFuge cannot grow macro algae
Hi All,
I have an AquaFuge 18" HOB refugium on my 29G tank. I have had it for some time now and just cannot get a good growth of the grape macroalgae that I have. It grows way too well in my tank but just cannot get it going in the refugium. The only thing I can get growing in the refugium is this brownish spider web looking stuff that promotes tons of bubble to stick to it, not sure what this is though. The AquaFuge has the supplied pump that comes with it and I have it lit with 2 PC 28W bulbs. One is a daylight bulb the other is an actin bulb. And I have about 1"-2" of miracle mud for a substrate. I am not sure but I think that the problem may be that, I believe, the grape algae needs strong water movement to grow. But I know that refugiums should have slow water movement. Any thoughts? And also what that brownish stuff may be? Thanks, CaptK |
