Aquariums-Fish Only
I am not sure what there is to watch in a reef tank. I see sponges, anemonies, rocks, crabs, etc. Don't you guys ever miss just watching a bunch of beautiful angel fish, butterflies, etc., swimming in a tank. The tank can include white coral skeletons, etc. If I watch a reef tank, there is very little movement and looks like a bunch of rocks with stuff growing on them. What gives?

Hi fishrule!
I agree that there are some beautiful fish that are not reef safe but there are many beautiful fish that are and can make the reef that much more active if added. I say that much more active because even without a fish in a reef, there can be tons of things going on. Shrimp, crabs, snails and other inverts are active. Lots of LPS corals have long, swaying tentacles to them that are very attractive and relaxing to watch. The colors of some of the corals are unmatched by fish and then you add a couple of fish in there and you have a very beautiful, active reef. ![]() Just my take on it. ![]() Scott Z. |
