tank connector?
tank connector?
hiya i have got all the plumbing done and have got 4 tank connectors: www.marinefishuk.co.uk/portal/...m.php?n=540#540 or if that doesnt work, go to www.marinefishuk.co.uk and go to the album section and then andrew barnett, and there is a picture of the tank connectors i have. i have just noticed that all 4 of them have started to give off a small leak, i have put the rubber bit on the inside of the tank, is this right? or what else have i done wrong for it to leak? thanx andrew barnett. |

Andrew,
The rubber gasket goes between the flange and the glass. That is usually on the inside of the tank but not necessarily because someone might want to mount the bulkhead fitting "upside down." You might want to explain how you are using them. ![]()

okay 3 of them i have got them with the threaded bit on the inside of the tank with the rubber gasket there and then the flanfge (thightening bit) and then on the outside there is the other flange, and the straight bit of pipe. on the other one i have it the other way around except that the rubber gasket is also on the inside of the tank.

The flange is not the tightening bit, that's the nut. The flange is usually female threaded so that you can screw a male threaded adapter or pipe into it. When used in the customary drain setting, the sequence is like this: Flange, rubber gasket, glass, nut. Even in special situations where the bulkhead fitting is reversed, the sequence remains the same but the rubber gasket would now be on the outside of the tank if that's where the flange is. It doesn't matter whether it's inside the tank or outside the tank, the only thing that matters is that the rubber gasket should be between the flange and the glass and the flange is not the tightening bit.
